If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: "I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye production" (you can get more specific but usually enough). And then someone will respond with recommendations X, Y, and Z.

You can also leave a top level comment recommending an artist/project/scene that you think others might like if they like X, Y, and Z.

Example: "You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats"

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

The more descriptive you guys are with your posts, the easier it is to help you find what you want. Just stating an artist's name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

  • If this is your first time listening to the 09 tape: what did you think?
  • Do the new tracks make sense on the tape?
  • Are they better than Queen or it's singles?
  • What expectations do you have for Nicki's next album?

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] 21 Savage & Slaughter Gang - Spiral: From the Book of Saw Soundtrack - EP

Posted: 15 May 2021 08:57 AM PDT

via Revolt:

In a press release, the Spiral EP was teased as including "posse cuts and dimly lit room anthems." As far as musical contributions go, Gunna, Young Thug, Young Nudy, 21 Harold, Real Recognize Rio, SG Tip, and Millie Go Lightly are in the lineup.

The video for the EP's lead single "Spiral" was shot in the Saw escape room in Las Vegas and intercuts footage from the movie. 21 and the music figure prominently in the Lionsgate movie and campaigns to promote its theatrical run. The mutual admiration extends to Savage's own use of the melody from "Hello Zepp" from the first Saw film.

It was only right that the EP was released on the same day as the movie for obvious reasons.

How does millie go lightly, the whitest woman from the UK I've ever seen, get features on these hood ass niggas from Atlanta songs lmao

Nudy's so dope on beats like this.

Nudy song tho... sheeeeesh

gotta respect 21 pushing his cousin nudy whenever he is able to

EPs for movies makes a whole lot of sense especially instead of 'MuSic inSpiRed By' albums with like only one song actually in the credits and then a whole 10 other songs of irrelevant shit.

Raising Hell is the third album by hip hop group Run-D.M.C. released on May 15, 1986 by Profile Records. The album was produced by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin. Raising Hell became the first Platinum and multi-Platinum hip hop record. The album was first certified as Platinum on July 15, 1986, before it was certified as 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on April 24, 1987.

Raising Hell peaked at number three on the Billboard 200, and number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart making it the first hip hop record reach atop the latter. The album features four hit singles: "My Adidas", "Walk This Way", "You Be Illin'" and "It's Tricky". "Walk This Way" is the group's most famous single, being a groundbreaking rap rock version of Aerosmith's 1975 song "Walk This Way". It is considered to be the first rap rock collaboration that also brought hip-hop into the mainstream and was the first song by a hip hop act to reach the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100.

It's been 35 years since the most well known album by Run-D.M.C was released, helping to bring Hip-Hop to a mainstream audience and break down a lot of barriers the once underground movement faced. How do you think it holds up now in 2021?

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Jorja Smith - Be Right Back EP

Posted: 15 May 2021 10:01 AM PDT

via Genius:

Be Right Back is the highly anticipated sophomore project by British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith.

During an October 2020 interview with Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo, Smith seemed to confirm that the project was complete, revealing she hasn't been listening to any of her old music because:

I'm currently banging the new one. I can't wait for you lot to hear what I've been writing.

The lead single, "Addicted," was released March 10, 2021, and was quickly followed by the second single, "Gone," released a little over a month later.

According to an April 2021 Complex UK article, Be Right Back is not considered to be the studio follow-up to 2018's Lost & Found, as explained by Jorja:

It's called Be Right Back because it's just something I want my fans to have right now. This isn't an album and these songs wouldn't have made it. If I needed to make these songs, then someone needs to hear them too
