Another great Griselda project, surprising to absolutely nobody. I love that even though they drop so often, it's still all quality.

"I'm smiling like Anderson .Paak when he hands me the packs" 🔥

Fake Love is SUCH a good track and El Camino kills it.

Been rocking with Big Ghost since 2012 and his funny ass album reviews. Hilarious reviews with actual nuance and a great schtick. Fast forward to now and he's producing with the best rapper to ever come out of my city. Whole shit has been surreal and I fuck with it heavy. Salute to you Ghost, I know you lurk here and I think I know who you actually are behind that Boo.

Fuck I liked Lulu more than some others, but jesus this shit right here is way better.

Sicario's got that freestyle verse too which is sick. "I'm smiling like Anderson Paak when he hands me the pack"

Shits crack. Everyone who likes this shit needs to check Etos new project too.

Best Conway project in a minute. Better than LULU.

Dead Flowers, Icon, Fake Love, SDNL, and Sicarios are really good Conway songs. Especially Fake Love with that excellent El Camino verse, and Conway matching him. Bricks To Murals and Shark Guts are good songs too, but not on the same level for me.

Big Ghost's production is dope. Every beat in here hits, with Dead Flowers, Icon and Fake Love being my favorite. The sample on Shark Guts is great, but it kinda ruins Conway's vocals. It's not bad by any means though.

I wish if it was longer than 25 minutes, but the short run time brings more replayability.

Conway is dope as always but... Am I crazy or do Big Ghost's beats sound like meager re-creations of some golden era shit? They're not like, terrible or anything. I would just rather hear Conway over alchemist or daringer tbh

To be fair I've only heard this and Griselda Ghost. Maybe he has some other shit that will hit me right.

That second beat on Bricks to Murals is absolutely dirty. I see people aren't really fucking with Big Ghost's production in this thread but it sounds really clean and well-made IMO. Also really enjoyed Shark Guts - cool to hear Conway over some more experimental production.

  • How does this compare to their drop from earlier this year?
  • How does this compare to Conway's other output over the years?
  • How does this compare to Big Ghost's other productions over the years?
  • Best songs? Best lines? Worst songs? Worst lines?

Posted: 17 May 2021 01:34 PM PDT

Coloring Book was released on May 13, 2016, exclusively on Apple Music, before being made available to other streaming services on May 27. It was the first mixtape to chart on the US Billboard 200 solely on streams, peaking at number eight, while receiving widespread acclaim from critics who praised its fusion of hip hop and gospel sounds. The mixtape won Best Rap Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards. It was also the first streaming-only album ever to win a Grammy.

What are your favorite songs from the mixtape? Feelings about it at the time? Feelings now? How does it rank in Chance's discography?

flex is so good

Damn, he did the Changes beat justice on Wishing For a Hero

This & new future to bang on a 3 hour drive. It's litty

i got high standards for this dude in the future he's got so much promise

him and king von are two Chicago artists I'm looking out for in the 2020's

That tupac sample and the BJ the Chicago Kid feature are insane. such a good track

Die A Legend is lowkey one of the best Albums/Mixtapes of the past 5 years. I think he followed it up with another great piece of work, honestly at first listen it's on the same level.

They really let him pick the worst, most generic title though.

Top Comments in [FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Thread

That song, "I Know" is incredible. Its hard for me to like these new up and coming trap rappers, there's so many of them and all have generic sounds, lyrics and beats. Im a fan of Polo for a few songs but this one really made me become a fan. Im not from the hood or can relate entirely to slanging drugs and guns, but this song makes me tear up.

I'm a recovering heroin addict and have lost many many people in my life all before I've turned 23. You can feel the pain in his lyrics and its one of those trap songs I can relate to. That has never happened with a trap rap song to me. This man is going to take off even more and I can honestly say I'm excited for him.

"By his auntie he was molested as a baby boy

Messed up his head, it even changed the way he play with toys"

I haven't seen anyone talk about these lines in the track "I Know" and some of the stuff he says on that track. Unless I'm misinterpreting this and he's speaking in 3rd person, he's saying he got molested by his auntie and it left him scarred. That whole verse really stuck out to me, because we live in an age of rappers capping all the time about meaningless shit, it felt surreal to hear someone talk about something so personal that was scarring to them.

That willingness to talk about things like that and his other experiences is what made him catch my attention with this album.

Really enjoyed this album overall.

For those that didnt know the track 21 is cuz juice died at 21 and 33 is for nipsey
