[DISCUSSION] DANGERDOOM - The Mask and the Mouse (15 Years Later)

Posted: 27 Oct 2020 05:42 PM PDT

[EDIT: I FUCKED UP. u/OnAcidButUrTheDum1 was kind enough to point out I mixed up my words, it's supposed to say 'THE MOUSE AND THE MASK'. I'm overworked and exhausted and messed up]

15 years ago (I'm a little late; just remembered) rapper MF DOOM & legendary producer Danger Mouse dropped their collaborative effort, The Mouse and the Mask.

May be an unpopular opinion but personally, this is my favorite DOOM project.

How do you think it's aged? What are your favorite tracks?

[Discussion] MAVI - Let the Sun Talk (One Year Anniversary)

Posted: 27 Oct 2020 09:46 PM PDT

Got this quote from Rap Genius:

"Let the Sun Talk is the debut album from Charlotte rapper MAVI. Released on his 20th birthday, the album was made available for download on his website on October 7, 2019, and went on to receive a wide release on the 15th.

Stylistically, MAVI fits within the current Abstract Hip-Hop renaissance going on in the underground. He writes dense, esoteric verses about Black solidarity, depression and emotional trauma, over glitchy, yet delicate soul beats that give the project a smudgy, lo-fi feel."

It's been a year since it came out, was wondering people's thoughts and experiences.

Sorry for the formatting, the reddit app sucks for posting

Chika Discusses Her Skin Condition: "i’ve done so much research cuz this has been the biggest pain and insecurity. people talk about my body & the reason that bothers me is cuz they assume that it’s my main concern when THIS is. my skin was at it’s worst last year and it’s doing a lot better now"

[DISCUSSION] clipping. - There Existed an Addiction to Blood (One Year Later)

Posted: 27 Oct 2020 11:49 AM PDT

Music and lyrics

Clipping described There Existed an Addiction to Blood in a press release as a "transmutation of horrorcore," continuing that it "absorbs the hyper-violent horror tropes of the Murder Dog era, but re-imagines them in a new light: still darkly-tinted and somber, but in a weirder and more vivid hue." Throughout the album, Daveed Diggs describes "gruesome movie scenarios," but, according to the Financial Times journalist Ludovic Hunter-Tilney, the lyrics do not contain the "sick [humor]" and misogyny associated with the genre. Diggs speaks in the second person in the tracks, which Tom Breihan of Stereogum interpreted to be in order to do "everything he can to put us, the listeners, in the shoes of the victims."
