Freddie Gibb's Former Manager Has Hijacked Freddiegibbs.com and Posted His Memoir

Posted: 21 Sep 2020 06:44 AM PDT

Direct link to the memoir or you can go to http://freddiegibbs.com/.

While most Freddie Gibbs fans are familiar with his manager Ben "Lambo" Lambert, many are probably unfamiliar with Archibald "Archie" Bonkers –and for good reason. Since 2014, Freddie Gibbs and Lambo have purposely avoided mentioning him and how instrumental he was in Freddie Gibb's career. In a 2018 DJ Booth Article, Lambo neglected any mention of Archie, and Archie received no credit until reaching out to the author directly.

Now, in the entertainment industry, relationships sour and bridges burn hundreds to thousands of times a day, and outside of a tabloid speculation, the explanations for these falling outs are often left untold. For this reason, the public –and avid Gibbs fans– likely never would have heard the story of what went wrong and why Archie and Gibb's professional relationship ended. However, after years of cryptic tweets about the matter, Archie has finally taken the situation into his own hands, detailing the rise of Gibbs in his memoir while also detailing the fall of their partnership.

E: Summary courtesy of /u/GhostofRimbaud

Tldr tho it's basically a damn novel itself lmao: Key The guy you know = Freddie. Other guy = Lambo. Pink Panther = Charles Hamilton. Snow = Jeezy. Frenchman = French Montana? Bad Kid/Beat Konducta = Madlib Helsey = 3H

-Ultimately, Archie claims he put (~10?) yrs of his life, blood sweat tears etc into making Freddie make it, was there with him sleeping on floors in the crackhead motels etc, was also apparently a very good tour DJ for him for awhile, was with him early and well into mid 2010s

-Archie and Gibbs split because of label drama, then reunited, Archie was later blamed seemingly by Lambo/Freddie for deserting them early on and for his association with label guy Helmsley who F&L both dislike, early seeds of resentment

-Archie didn't get paid fairly for the work he claims he did including making lots happen with very little time and money in terms of tours and videos, especially starting off

-Archie thanklessly handled all bookmaking/accounting, invoicing, administrative/scheduling/touring/driving during touring/press stuff, getting Freddie to things on time, handling track sequencing and even titles, recording advice that made Gibbs a better artist long term, cover art, mixing, merch, DJing, letting him sleep on his couch and subsequently comforting him through PTSD nightmares, they became very close

-Lambo supposedly did very little in the grand scheme of things especially on the come up, Archie claims Lambo was bad mouthing him probably for years to Freddie behind Archie's back, then swooped in and took his title/credit when they fired Archie. To this day Lambo can't seem to manage to change billing/shipping addresses or even email passwords

-Archie gets fired for admittedly erratic behavior due to spiraling mental health (depression, anxiety, weight loss due to not having enough money to eat decently) as well as ultimately minor mistakes in merch/business that supposedly didn't really affect their financial bottom line.

-They withhold money from him for months and only pay up when he locks them out of their own email addresses, keeps their extra merch because they refuse to give him anymore commission that they gave their word they would give him

-Archie suffers depression/mental health problems and joblessness for years on n off following his firing, loses a great girl/relationship due to having no money and crazy job hours, ruins his credit for years due to maxing out credit cards to finance things for Freddie early on

-Archie saw article comparing Lambo to Phil Jackson, got pissed and decided to claim his credit for the success story that is Freddie Gibbs

-Archie still loves Freddie, is open to reconciliation if possible and considers it one of the closest relationships he's had in his life, believes him to be the greatest gangsta rapper alive and probably of all time, and urges people to listen to and push his music.

Can't believe I read all that but I'm basically off today so fuck it. I actually really especially enjoyed the stories of studio time/songs/shows/videos and how it all came together for them. This all really drives home that no artist just makes it themselves, you basically absolutely have to have a team around you and it's a Herculean amount of work involved that has nothing to do with the music or creative side. This guy has a right to be pissed on both a business and personal level if this is all true but obviously it's one side of the story and even he admits he's mentally unstable lol, kinda funny tho how nearly incompetent Lambo seems to be at least from this account lmao.

E2: After reading it all, it clearly comes off one-sided, but at the same time, it sounds like this guy really believed in Gibbs and poured everything he had into making him a success. I can't imagine how it would feel to be cut off from someone you considered a friend after that many years grinding, and I can't imagine how it would feel to see the Lambo telling stories of Gibbs' success without any mention of what Archie did.

[DISCUSSION] Migos - Back To The Bando (5 Years Later)

Posted: 21 Sep 2020 10:20 AM PDT

This is the first body of work the Migos released after their first debut album, Yung Rich Nation. The notorious trap trio return to the trap house and bring back similar vibes that gave us classics like No Label II and Rich Nigga Timeline.

The 15-track release has no features, but we've got plenty hype up energy from the Migos, and the production lineup is filled with allstars. It features Deko, Dun Deal, Murda Beatz, and 7 beats from the one and only, Zaytoven.
