What is plug.dj?

plug.dj is a site where users take turns playing songs from youtube/soundcloud for each other and chat. Think crowdsourced radio, or a group passing the aux cord around one song at a time. The room can vote on how they like the song, chat about this or that and generally chill out and listen to tunes. It's a great way to find new music and share that song you've had on repeat. And you get to do it all with your fellow HHH fambruhs :)

General Guidelines

  1. Check the history before you play a song - The DJ history button is located here. It shows roughly the last 3 hours of songs that have been played in the room. If you play something that has been played recently enough to show up in the DJ history, you will be skipped by a staff member.

  2. No censored songs - Check the song you've picked before you play it. We don't want to hear a song where half of it is pauses. Explicit+video is awesome if you can get it, but we'd pick an explicit track without video over a censored video any day. If you play a censored track, you're getting skipped by a staff member.

  3. No pitch-shifted songs - Tagging on to the last rule. Just check the youtube vid you pick before you play it. We don't wanna hear the Alvin & the Chipmunks version of a song that some guy made to evade a copyright takedown, that'll be a skip.

  4. Play (mostly) hiphop - At the end of the day, this is the plug.dj room for hiphopheads. We do allow RnB to be played, as well as some EDM trap (or like remixes of rap songs), but for the most part otherwise, stick to playing hiphop. Memes are gonna get skipped by a staff member.

  5. Bitch don't kill my vibe - If everyone has been vibing out to some super chill songs, you should refrain from playing that Waka Flocka track. And if the last several people before you played some hype bangers, it's probably not the best time to play that instrumental Dilla track. Try to follow the flow.

  6. Don't instameh - Give a song a chance. No way you can judge a song within the first 5 seconds of it starting.

  7. Be active in chat - The staff does go through and kick afk people every once in a while. The way the afk timer works is based off of chat, so you need to say something in chat every once in a while to reset it. Besides, it's more fun when everyone is chatting! You'll get mentioned in chat if you've been afk for 45 minutes or so, if you don't respond you'll be kicked from the waitlist.

  8. No being a dick in chat - No spamming, no flaming other users, no racism. If you do, you will be kicked from the room by a staff member.

  9. Le rare gems - Try to not to play the most circlejerked songs from HHH. More fun if we get some stuff that isn't so overplayed.

FAQ/Get Started

How do I play songs?

You need to make a playlist (more instructions inside when you click that button) and then hit the join waitlist button.

How do I vote on songs?

Look at the bottom on the screen, on the right of the DJ booth. You can woot if you dig the song, meh if you want it to be skipped, and even grab it (save it to one of your playlists). If a song hits the required meh ratio, it will be skipped.

How do I check where I am in the waitlist?

Look at the top right of the screen. Shows your position, the total # of people in the waitlist, and the total # of people in the room.

How do I change my avatar/profile/settings?

Check the bottom right of the screen.

What's the deal with the people in chat with purple names and symbols?

Those people are room staff. There's levels to this shit, from resident DJ all the way to host. If you have been coming regularly for a long time, you might just get promoted too! How not to get promoted is to constantly beg for it though.

What if I really love/hate another user?

You can either friend them or ignore them by clicking on their avatar or name.

Anything I can do to enhance the plug experience?

Well...there is this extension called plug3 that can do some cool stuff. Check it out.

NEW: Kanye West's '"Life Of Pablo,'" Deconstructed – Kanye's TLOP & Modern Listening

Hey guys! I'm Martin Connor, the mastermind behind 2 Vox videos with over 5 million views total that you might've seen before, one on rap in general here, and one on Kanye's use of the human voice here. Last week, I launched my own new channel that releases videos just like those Vox ones that focus exclusively on rap and Hip Hop. My first release was a video that deconstructs Kendrick Lamar's flows on "DAMN." at the link here.

This week's new video explains why Kanye left his 2016 "Life Of Pablo" album deliberately unfinished, from its unaccompanied rap on "I Love Kanye" to the 12 moments of completely isolated instruments on "Ultralight Beam." In short, Kanye left the album incomplete so that it could act as the perfect complement to modern audience's listening habits, from our playlists of radio singles to mash-ups and bootlegs.

Hope you enjoy, thanks guys! Peace, -Martin

TL;DR: The guy behind the 2 popular Vox hip-hop videos created his own YouTube channel.

[Discussion] 21 Savage - Issa Album

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 12:28 PM PDT

It's been more than a week and I'm curious as to what you guys think about it now. I think this is very good and on par with Savage Mode. A lot of the songs are somewhat deep and it slaps.

What are you guys thinking and why do you guys think the critics aren't feeling it?

[Discussion] Nyck Caution & Kirk Knight - Nyck @ Knight

Posted: 26 Jul 2017 04:30 PM PDT

Been about a week since it's come out, what you guys think? I think it's mad good front to back. Amazing beats with good new york and soul feel to them. Favorite tracks so far are audiopium, off the wall, all night, wake up, and no one seems to care.

Nyck and Kirk gave really amazing bars too. Pretty crazy how great of a producer and lyricist Kirk Knight is. Hope this albums gives them good exposure, the rest of pro era has been overshadowed by joey mad heavily even tho there's mad talent in the group.

Opinions?
