Hey it's your favorite mod team back once again to update and clarify some rules.

Commentary

Commentary posts that simply feature a someone reacting to or giving their opinion on the news do not warrant their own posts. Examples include posts from TheNeedlDrops' fantano channel, most of @TheBeezus's videos, and shit from DJ Ackademiks' channel. This type of content having its own post is redundant and unnecessary. Feel free to post it in the Daily Discussion and in the comment sections of relevant posts.

Track Reviews

Track reviews and track reactions are no longer allowed. Some examples include P4k Track Reviews, TheNeedleDrop TRACK REVIEWS and Big Quint track reactions. These posts consistently fail to generate new/quality discussion and are almost always about songs that everyone here already agreed were good and jerked over when they were released. This would not include projects (Albums, EPs, Mixtapes, "Playlists")

List articles/AOTY-like Lists

A reminder regarding something we implemented in December: List artciles and AOTY-like ranking from publications are banned. We find that these consistently fail to spark discussion and our community manages to disagree with just about everyone. There's an exception for "Slept on", "overlooked", and "Up and coming" artist lists.

No Posts about things going gold/platinum

These will be consolidated to a monthly list. Shit goes platinum/gold way too often. Exceptions for things that are outlandish like Jay going platinum upon release.

Thursday Releases

Just a reminder, Thursday releases shouldn't be posted until they're available in North America, where most artists and 87% of this subreddit lives.

Posts should be titled objectively.

If Kanye West says "Jay-Z stole my scooter", the headline shouldn't be "JAY-Z STOLE KANYE'S SCOOTER", it should be "Kanye claims that Jay-Z stole his scooter" or "Kanye West: 'Jay-Z stole my scooter'". And it should be a self post.

Container articles

Don't post articles that just cite another articles or an interview. For example, this P4k article doesn't contain any information that isn't available in this interview.

Recently or notable overused/formulaic memes

ere's some memes that have recently and/or very quickly become overused/formulaic:

  • Youweird
  • Quack
  • saying something really raunchy for shock value (this one's less recent)
  • "Does it look like I got left off of Bad and Boujee"
  • Delete this, nephew
  • Dings in the whip
  • copypasta
