What is plug.dj?

plug.dj is a site where users take turns playing songs from youtube/soundcloud for each other and chat. Think crowdsourced radio, or a group passing the aux cord around one song at a time. The room can vote on how they like the song, chat about this or that and generally chill out and listen to tunes. It's a great way to find new music and share that song you've had on repeat. And you get to do it all with your fellow HHH fambruhs :)

General Guidelines

  1. Check the history before you play a song - The DJ history button is located here. It shows roughly the last 3 hours of songs that have been played in the room. If you play something that has been played recently enough to show up in the DJ history, you will be skipped by a staff member.

  2. No censored songs - Check the song you've picked before you play it. We don't want to hear a song where half of it is pauses. Explicit+video is awesome if you can get it, but we'd pick an explicit track without video over a censored video any day. If you play a censored track, you're getting skipped by a staff member.

  3. No pitch-shifted songs - Tagging on to the last rule. Just check the youtube vid you pick before you play it. We don't wanna hear the Alvin & the Chipmunks version of a song that some guy made to evade a copyright takedown, that'll be a skip.

  4. Play (mostly) hiphop - At the end of the day, this is the plug.dj room for hiphopheads. We do allow RnB to be played, as well as some EDM trap (or like remixes of rap songs), but for the most part otherwise, stick to playing hiphop. Memes are gonna get skipped by a staff member.

  5. Bitch don't kill my vibe - If everyone has been vibing out to some super chill songs, you should refrain from playing that Waka Flocka track. And if the last several people before you played some hype bangers, it's probably not the best time to play that instrumental Dilla track. Try to follow the flow.

  6. Don't instameh - Give a song a chance. No way you can judge a song within the first 5 seconds of it starting.

  7. Be active in chat - The staff does go through and kick afk people every once in a while. The way the afk timer works is based off of chat, so you need to say something in chat every once in a while to reset it. Besides, it's more fun when everyone is chatting! You'll get mentioned in chat if you've been afk for 45 minutes or so, if you don't respond you'll be kicked from the waitlist.

  8. No being a dick in chat - No spamming, no flaming other users, no racism. If you do, you will be kicked from the room by a staff member.

  9. Le rare gems - Try to not to play the most circlejerked songs from HHH. More fun if we get some stuff that isn't so overplayed.

FAQ/Get Started

How do I play songs?

You need to make a playlist (more instructions inside when you click that button) and then hit the join waitlist button.

How do I vote on songs?

Look at the bottom on the screen, on the right of the DJ booth. You can woot if you dig the song, meh if you want it to be skipped, and even grab it (save it to one of your playlists). If a song hits the required meh ratio, it will be skipped.

How do I check where I am in the waitlist?

Look at the top right of the screen. Shows your position, the total # of people in the waitlist, and the total # of people in the room.

How do I change my avatar/profile/settings?

Check the bottom right of the screen.

What's the deal with the people in chat with purple names and symbols?

Those people are room staff. There's levels to this shit, from resident DJ all the way to host. If you have been coming regularly for a long time, you might just get promoted too! How not to get promoted is to constantly beg for it though.

What if I really love/hate another user?

You can either friend them or ignore them by clicking on their avatar or name.

Anything I can do to enhance the plug experience?

Well...there is this extension called plug3 that can do some cool stuff. Check it out.

Two of the biggest grime OG's have just started warring and it's crazy. Should be some of the best beef in years

Posted: 17 Jul 2017 01:01 AM PDT

Article explaining the background of it all, I'll post the current stuff

P Money and Dot Rotten are some of the biggest grime figures, Dot Rotten producing some of the biggest (and fucking incredible) grime instrumentals that are still used today such as Hard Times and Petrol Bomb

After a break from MCing and another name change, 'Zeph Ellis' returned to the mic in 2017 and channelled the "Spirit of Dot Rotten" – first on Selecta Impact's Mode FM show, then on Sir Spyro's Rinse FM show. Despite the direct beef in the past mainly being with other OGz members, he made a clear reference to P Money with the bar "Fuck your crew of assassins" – Fatal Assassins being the crew P Money and Little Dee were in before OGz.

He was also seen on Twitter and Snapchat explaining how P Money had come to his studio to attack him after hearing that Dot had sent for them in a freestyle. That freestyle is still yet to come out. Dot was active on social media, putting across his side of the story on NE and other things from the past. When he announced he would be addressing things on his second Fire In The Booth, people started to talk. Everyone was waiting to hear what he had to say.

People probably weren't expecting the whole Fire In The Booth freestyle to be acapella, but regardless the bars and flow showed that Dot was still levelling even after a long break from the mic. From this point on, everyone was on the edge of their seat waiting to see if P would respond. For days there was no mention or reference to it from P on social media. He was dropping tracks and videos as normal.

On July 7th, Dot Rotten uploaded a direct send for P Money to SoundCloud, produced by himself. The Organised Grime Freestyle included everything from references to their OGz days and a diss towards P's ex-girlfriend Sian Anderson.

It was only a matter of hours before P finally came out on social media to say he wasn't going to let this go.

"Finally, it's onnnn now" @KingPMoney | July 7, 2017

Three days later, P Money announced his dub would be dropping the following day and he would be releasing a 'Snake EP' that same week. He didn't disappoint.

Before Dot had the chance to respond to Real Talk, P Money dropped another visual and released the three-track Snake EP on Apple Music and Spotify
Liars In The Booth and Mug made up the rest of the EP and were both included in a double visual that dropped the same night as the EP.

"No pressure, even when they think they have you against the ropes" @ProducerZeph | July 14, 2017

After the personal references to Dot's relationship with Mz Bratt, she took to social media to explain how she felt about being mentioned in P Money's send.

On the morning of Sunday 16th July, Dot uploaded his reply over the same Thomas Mellor instrumental used in P's Real Talk. Nearly 9 minutes of Dot addressing P Money's response.

P has stated that five dubs will be dropping on his Snake EP 2. It's on P again.

"The way I'm gonna address this one… it's so over for man, 5dub EP now." @KingPMoney | July 16, 2017

There's absolutely no sign of this stopping any time soon, some of the biggest beef in years.

Hip-hop crosswords, anyone? I made a Madvillainy quantum crossword (one puzzle, two solutions) if anyone wants to kill some time during a lunch break.

Not sure if anyone's interested, but here's a crossword anyway. The clues are set up so that both MF DOOM and Madlib are viable methods to solving it. Enjoy?
