HHH Favourites List Voting Thread #3

Posted: 07 Jul 2017 02:58 PM PDT

A year has passed since the last voting so we will have the 3rd round of voting now.

The voting will be done in contest mode, so be sure to search (control+f) for the project you want to vote on before posting it yourself, otherwise the vote will not count for anything. Also make sure to check the current list as there is no point in voting on something that is already on there: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qpbd-fHbMyfWXlWPRA_XfgzYayc8cIjn8J9CuL-aNpE/edit#gid=0

As time has passed some of the albums may seem out of place on the list as the artist or album may no longer be heavily discussed. So for this thread you can either post asking to add or remove an album based on your perceived popularity of it here.

The projects that make it onto the favourites list are the ones that songs cannot be posted off of. This is not limited to albums so feel free to submit mixtapes or EPs as well.

Post Format

Add: Artist name - Project name

or

Remove: Artist name - Project name

Slept On Toronto Street Rappers

Posted: 07 Jul 2017 07:18 AM PDT

wats gucci. I feel like toronto's street rappers have been getting more of a buzz and wanted to make a list to hopefully show y'all some shit you haven't heard of before. I'm gonna break it by down by area so its easier to organize. One thing I have to mention is that often these areas are concentrated pockets of poverty, usually of co-op housing and apartment buildings but are often surrounded by middle class and sometimes wealthy housing. If I missed someone just add them in the comments.

TLDR - If there is a ^ or HEAT or CLASSIC tag in front of the song I recommend you listen

Scarborough (EAST END)

Pitts - Sheppard and McCowan

Baka aka Not Nice - He's a long time OVO & Reps Up affiliate/bodyguard turned rapper. He's featured early on Drake & Jhene's track from time and probably popularized the term "know yourself" that you can see on OVO clothing. Has a lot of potential to release bangers.

^ Whip

SUMMER BANGER Live Up to My Name

Flemo/ Flemingdon Park

JB - He's an old head rapper that's affiliated with GCP (guilty crime posse) and probably most known for his song with the Game. Furthermore, he had a feud with the Game over the rights to that record and claims that the Game hasn't returned to Toronto because of him.

Watchya need

^ Fire In Ya Eyes ft. The Game

Kardinal Offishall - He's a legend and before drake was arguably the most successful hiphop artist out of Toronto. He later moved to Vaughan & Oakwood another area on our list. Check out Bakardi Slang if you still don't understand why people in toronto use patois in their slang.

Bakardi Slang

^ Everyday

D-brown - Old head rapper. I don't know too much about this guy and it's actually hard to find info on him. But this song was a slapper when people started using youtube and the song below linked Flemo with another area on our guide, Parna Courts.

Flemo to Parma

Malvern : This is one of the better known hoods in Toronto. It reminds me of the Jane & Finch of the east end.

Booggz- New school rapper. He reminds me of Shy Glizzy for some reason that I can't quite pinpoint so if you fuck wit him you'll probably like this guy.

Sosa

Black Challenger

Sam G - He's one of the most respected street rappers because he's really bout it, from my understanding he robbed some people in a studio and one ended up getting shot and killed. Source He has a gritty sound with a smooth laid back delivery, he definitelyly could have been bigger if he wasn't locked up.

Deadweight

Your way

Midland & Lawrence

Califate- Old head rapper, he was active about 10 years ago. I have no idea what happened to him, it's hard to find info on him. But I consider him to be a part of the first wave of hood rappers with popular music videos.

Hit em ep

My environment

Galloway- g-way

Preign - I think this guy is a pretty bad rapper but I've seen him live and he wasn't trash but he's undeniably a great hustler. I'm assuming he's close friends with drake as he stated that Drake dropped 100k on a lawyer to help him beat gun possession charges. He worked hard, got the drake co-sign and is living the life. He's affiliated with reps up crew.

Where you been

In my hood

Orton Park

Camoflauge AKA Gangis Khan- I don't listen to his music much but I fuck with him a lot, he's an old head who still raps. This guy actually has dope insightful instagram posts from time to time. Seems like well reasoned person who's put the streets behind him and makes money off of touring.

Gun Town

Greezy

Parma Court

Big Lean - I think he's been around for awhile but seem's to be blowing up with his choice in features. As a matter of fact he probably has the best feature game to of everybody on this guide.

Everywhere

Blessed Up

Keelow - Really dope rapper and he's a great storyteller. He has great fucking beat choice for the most part and comes with catchy hooks. His new mixtape has a pretty unique sound for hood rappers coming out of the city.

^ Night Shift

So Bad

Keep Quiet Remix

Roney - He was the poster child for Toronto street rappers at one point, when people make parodies of Toronto hood mans this distinct accent is what comes to mind. He has a raw delivery and a slick flow. He guy was actually getting a good buzz going until he caught charges for pimpin out an underage girl. Source

^ Won't Sleep

Seen it all

OVO Hush / Young Tony - OG in the game but he didn't release a lot of music. He stood out from other rappers because he had some clever ass bars. He's probably co-written some of your favourite drake verses and is partial reason as to why big lean gets good features.

hood classic - 100 Strong Arm - Califate, Young Tony, Aristo, C4, Mayhem Morearty

Tales from the hood

Chester Le - Finch & Victoria Park - Don mills area

French , C.P., Archie, Slugz / Triple M / Money Making Malis - New school rappers that sound like they make drill music.

^ It's a movie - CP x Archee

Some Real Waryas - French x Slugz x CP

^ French x C.P - Tell You

Alias Donmillion - Old head rapper. He went to jail for shooting his gun in the air at Caribana, which is our annual Caribbean carnival.

Dirty Dot

Snow- Old Head. He's a fucking white boy that grew up in the hood, probably the first toronto hood rapper to get Platinum certification. Don't sleep on informer.

CLASSIC - Informer

Downtown

Regent - One of Toronto's first hoods, I believe it was an actual slum in the early 1900s. Right now it's become pretty gentrified. They have beef with another downtown neighbourhood called P.O.

Point Blank - OG group, their hit song was even played in my criminology class and was definitely a city anthem.

CLASSIC - Born and Raised in the ghetto

Mo-G - Hotline bling dance enthusiast, known to switchup with the left like Ginoblii. Drake's hotling bling dance was definitely inspired by my guy here. There's a lot of controversy surrounding how he was treated by OVO and he ended up shooting a video burning OVO gear. He needs to stick to the music though.

Wiggins

Akhira Mode

Smoke Dawg - He's been getting a lot of buzz after going on tour with drake. He has bangers but he hasn't released any heat lately. He also recently got his chain popped by people from PO which isn't a good look as a hood rapper.

FIRE - Still

FIRE - Trap House

Puffy L'z - First off, this guy is tall as FUCK. He's a new school rapper and uses catchy melodies to ride the beat, I fuck wit it. He has a lot of potential.

Been Flexin

^ Pull Up

PO / Project Original / Alexandra park / Atkinson co-op - they have beef with Regent. I don't know any details about the street but if we're talking just musically they're definitely winning.

Mr.Comfortable - he's actually one of the best mcs on this list, he has clever bars and a slick flow. He was on hiatus, but I've noticed that he's making a comeback so he's definitely someone you should keep on your radar.

^ Tiger Blood

^ The comeback 2012

Vanauley stacks - This guy is an average rapper but the videos he releases make him memorable. He has Smoke Dawg's stolen chain in his videos and even posted a video of his cat wearing it LOL.

^ Halal Meat- (This song is a diss playing on Smoke Dawg - Still)

^ Facts - (Smoke Dawg Diss)

Casper TNG - He's probably the most underrated rapper on this list, he should be as big as Pressa EASILY and he's hitting similar numbers without a cosign. He has surprisingly catchy fucking songs, he's an auto tune rapper. He also has vids with Smoke Dawg's chain and disses Puffy L'z in his song All Your Friends Are Dead.

^ Dope Boy

Know Me

Derek Wise - I don't think he's really from P.O. but I threw him in here cause he's affiliated with kensington. He's a XO artist and is slept on in the camp. He sounds very similar to Key!

^ Kenzo

Lay Low

Esplanade - this area has a good relationship with Regent and they have collaborated group called FULL CIRCLE which also includes singer SAFE

Prime boys (Jimmy, Donnie, Jay Whiss) - Niggas who coined the term 6 & personally I fucking hate it, it's so corny but they make good music. Signed/Affiliated with Drake.

I heard

FIRE Sun Goes Down

West End

VO / Vaughan & Oakwood - Drake went to school in this area for a short time at Vaughan road academy.

Ginga.G / Heartless G - Arguably one of the most respected street artist because he's actually living his lyrics. VO was a blood neighbourhood and a kid from Eglinton west which happened to be a crip neighbourhood was walking in his territory so they he shot him. Source

Mobsta Music Pt.1

^ Bicking back bein bool

^ Have a nice trip

Jungle / Lawrence heights - Drake raps about this place because he fucks some ting from here and bought her a car or some shit

Top5 - This kid is like the Lil B of Toronto rappers. He always get shouts out from drake, this nigga just raps like he's having fun. I fuck with it. Who gon do it ft Styles P

^ Shirt off on any block

Jigsaw - New school rapper. He has a melodic flow and catchy lyrics, looking forward to hearing more from him.

The intro

Mayhem Morearty - OG. This guy used to be one of the prominent rappers in the city. He got caught robbing a jewelry store and then snitched on another rapper who killed innocent people for clout. The article is pretty twisted, his associate was a serial killer. Source

Late Night Creep

Dixon Rd - gang affiliated with this area is alleged to be involved with our mayor smoking crack RIP

Saturn Dixon - New school rapper. He's looks like a Somali biggie smalls, I fuck with him but he needs to release more music.

^ Boss Up

Rexdale - one of the better known hoods in toronto

Jellestone - If you're going to do anything on this guide just listen to money can't buy me happiness. It's easily one of the best songs to come out of this city and is the reason why I still own a baby blue durag. Anyways, this guy is an OG in the game.

CLASSIC Money Can't Buy me happiness

The hood is here

Sizzlac - In 09 he had two charges of second degree murder and they were both dropped. In 2016 He dropped a diss track and was killed a few days later. Source

Realest in the 6

Albion / A-Block

Apac- New school rapper. My guy has drill sound and the Hit or Sum video reminds me of the first time I saw I Don't Like by Sosa.

^ Hit or Sum

Ferrari

Weston/Humber Huey - New school rapper.

Finesse & Kawal

chosen ( 89 nights)

$heed - New school , this guy actually has bars and a nice flow. This guy needs to work more on his craft and he can become a real contender.

Kawalling

Swagger Rite - New school rapper. My guy has a dope sound he just needs to release more music, he needs consistency.

swerve on your ends

Jane and Finch - Probably the most well known hood in Toronto. It's divided into north of finch/uptop ( driftwood, shoreham, gosford) and south of finch/downbottom (grand ravine, yellowstone, grassways)

Robin Banks - Great artist that makes catchy tracks, don't sleep on this guy. He was recently shot 9 times and survived, hopefully he can pull a 50 cent out of this unfortunate situation and blow the fuck up. Source

HEAT Wass Gang

^ Mixed with jamaican

The Smugglaz - Old heads, respected as shit in the area.

Street Rappers

C4 - Old Head. He's part of the rap group The Corps and has a slick delivery on his bars.

Toronto Zoo

Aye

Whyg - New school rapper. Not really feeling this guy's music but he has clout on the streets.

Cooling

Why Her

Pressa - Probably one of the most likely to blow up. He low-key reminds me of speakerknockerz (RIP). He has a distinct voice that can be annoying to the untrained ear but don't sleep on him.

HEAT Diamonds Dancing

HEAT Deadmihana (dead man marijuana)

HEAT TBH

Young Wiggy Guzzi - He only has diss tracks out against pressa but the track is fire.

^ Benzo/Pressa diss

LB - This kid is young as shit at 15 years old and perfectly uses airy auto-tune vocals to create some catchy hooks. Keep him on your radar, he'll blow up in time.

Calling my Phone

No Time

Killy - Not sure where's from but it doesn't matter, my dude is talented as fuck. He's an asian rapper and looks like he just got off a flight from tokyo - dripping in sauce. Keep him on your radar.

HEAT Killamonjaro
