Recommended If You Like thread - August 28, 2021

If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: "I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye production" (you can get more specific but usually enough). And then someone will respond with recommendations X, Y, and Z.

You can also leave a top level comment recommending an artist/project/scene that you think others might like if they like X, Y, and Z.

Example: "You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats"

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

The more descriptive you guys are with your posts, the easier it is to help you find what you want. Just stating an artist's name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

First Impression GRIP - I Died For This!?

It has been over 24 hours since release. What do you think of it?

Personally I had big expectations for this album with Porch and Snubnose being amazing projects, but IDFT!? blew me away! GRIP's flows and rhymes are amazing, production is crazy (s/o to executive producer TU!), and the features hit (god damn Em!?). He combined great narative, cohesion, and versatility in sounds. From rap rap to melodic singing to rock, GRIP kills it all!? My favorite tracks are probably Momma Told Me!, Walkthrough!, and Patterns?, but honestly this has no skips for me. I would probably give it a 8.5/10 for now (I need to see how it grows on me). Its a long time ago I heard such a good debut album, I think the best since JID's Never Story? Its funny how I saw him opening for JID before Covid and never heard of him back then, and now I have become a true fan. If he keeps developing this man has no limits. Honestly GRIP has to potential to be the next big guy. JID and GRIP the new ATLiens!?

imo an album full with slept on bangers, and some of snoops most mature lyrics are on this but there are def. Some problems which I'll list here

1) The Mixing, where do i start, some songs sound like snoop recorded it on a $2 mic, some songs are way too low in volume and this is evident on songs like, up jump tha boogie, snoop bounce, doggyland, me and my dogz

2) filler skits, they just don't do anything important for the album

That's it, these are my thoughts wht y'all say?
