If y'all remember we've done [HYPE WEEK] a bunch of times.

Previous weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. If someone wants to make a Spotify playlist of everything that's been posted so far I can add it to the OP and future OPs.

Rules

Artists qualify if they're never gotten 50 or more upvotes on /r/HipHopHeads (counting features)

Formatting:

Artist - Title

Description: no character minimum but some things that might be good to include: where the rapper is from, what subgenres they might fall into, have cosigns they might have, what their influences are/who they sound like.

Example:

Aaron May - Let Go

17 year old Houston Rapper, biggest influences are J Cole and Nas.

The highest upvoted songs might be collected for a playlist or something.

Heavily recommended: If you post a song, listen to another song and comment on it. Otherwise it doesn't rly work that well.

Hailing from Dallas Texas, Lotus imo is the most talented "emo rapper" since Peep. Dudes got a penchant for melody and the perfect voice for the genre. GBC affiliated as he's done a whole tape with Nedarb as well as multiple collabs with cold Hart. Also in a boyband w/ smrtdeath and lil Aaron called Boyfriendz

Blackfist - Idolatry

Blackfist just dropped a new album World Manumission Defense so they're my pick for this week. Taking this from /u/mikeest's wonderful 2018 roundup

Blackfist is a duo out of LA consisting of VIK and YUNGMORPHEUS, both of whom rap and produce, and who sacrifice zero creative control, by releasing music on their own label "RAWSH_T". In a lot of ways, Strapped 4 Survival can be seen as the embodiment of "lofi hip hop", while still moving the scene forward in a meaningful way. This album is hazy, gritty, and sounds like a weird cross between early 90s Memphis hip hop and a Madlib beat tape, with effortlessly political lyrics. It works as a slow burn stoner tape, something nostalgic, and a potent discussion of some important ideas, but what's most impressive is how all of this is done in such a casual, fluid way.

If you like Some Rap Songs, you'll probably enjoy this. VIK produced some stuff for the Maxo album that's gotten some hype here.

ChillinIt - Running Bars 2 MUSIC VIDEO

ChillinIt: one of the greatest in the Aus Rap scene rn. Boom Bap/Grime song, love his flow on this song, he stays with the godly flow on all of his tracks. This man represent how Aus Rap is changing for the better, big ups.

Serious Klein - Kia music

German- Ghanaian rapper who raps in English. A definite recommendation for people who enjoy earthgang, jid and spillage village. Is pretty lyrical and does rap over modern trap influenced production.

Hooligan Chase - Nice Guy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaBF9AndUBk)

One of my favorite up and coming rappers...dude makes all his own beats and has a very distinct voice making him super addicting to listen to imo.
