Kanye wanted to put the N-word in every song title on WTT

Posted: 24 Apr 2017 05:14 AM PDT

We had David Cho on our podcast this week - you might not know him but he's currently working with Justin Timberlake on something, and has been in a lot of interesting rooms. Cho reveals that Kanye wanted to put the n-word in every song title on WTT, but Jay quashed that idea. I don't think it's been revealed anywhere before:

Kanye talk starts around 34:00 but then stop afters 5 mins or so. There's more Kanye talk and, specifically, talk about the WTT titles around 1:50:00

Concert Review #1: 21 Savage (4/21/2017)

Posted: 24 Apr 2017 12:19 PM PDT

Hello everyone! I'll preface this post with some background info on what this is. First off, I apologize if the writing isn't the best. I'm a college freshman and don't have much writing experience outside of 4 years of Yearbook in high school.

I was looking for a place on Reddit for concert reviews (/r/concertreviews is practically 100% dead) but couldnt find anything. Before I go to a show, I try to find out everything I can. What the environment is like, what songs will be played, etc. I thought I'd share some of my experience in hope of helping others! In the past couple years I've been lucky enough to see: Kanye West, Eminem, Tyler, the Creator, ScHoolboy Q, 21 Savage, Drake, Young MA, Future, Lil Yachty, Big Sean, Dr. Dre (Sort of, he was with Eminem at Wembley a couple years back but didn't perform much) and possibly a couple more I'm missing. In short, I've had the opportunity to see some amazing artists and haven't had the chance to share my experiences so here I am!

The first show I want to talk about was my latest one, 21 Savage. I'll put a TL;DR at the bottom for those who don't care to read all of this! Going into this show, I was admittedly a little nervous. As a 18 year old white kid from Florida I was anxious how I'd be perceived at the show. But it was amazing! As a part of the 21 Meet and Greet Package I bought I got early entry into the venue ahead of most of GA. As soon as I walked in I just walked straight up to the stage and parked myself there for the entirety of the night.

They actually started the show about 20min early (at 8:40) which I was surprised by at the time. But looking back, it was to accommodate all of the guest performers they had with them. On the ticket they advertised: 21 Savage, Young MA, Tee Grizzley, and Young Nudy. It actually ended up being: 21 Savage, Slime Ball, Young MA, Tee Girzzley, Lil Yachty, and literally about 2-4 more performers who I admittedly didn't recognize/don't remember. I didn't know a lot of the songs that were leading up to 21 Savage but it was still a great atmosphere. Being able to be less than 5 feet away from the stage is an amazing experience for a concert, especially one like this.

Mainly going to be talking about 21 Savage, Young MA and Lil Yachty since I know them the best out of everyone. Young MA went on around 10:00pm or so and played a solid 45min set before giving up the stage to 21. I've only listened to a few Young MA songs but I was pleasantly surprised by her performance. She had someone performing with her the whole time but I can't remember how he was connected to her. She, of course, brought out an almost empty bottle of Hennessey on stage and was drinking it throughout the set. Fuck that, I'd be dead.

21 Savage was RIGHT on time, coming out at 11:00 on the dot. It was one of the more unique entrances I'd ever seen. The stage had an old looking cabin door and porch with a functioning door for artists to come in and out of. He was wearing a Navy Dickie's Jumpsuit, a Jason Vorhees mask, and holding a machete in one hand. I don't know if the machete was real (I doubt it), but overall it was a cool aesthetic. Everyone thought he was going to be late (since it seems 99% of concert start late) since nothing was happening until all of a sudden the lights went out and the performance started. 21 started off with 3-4 songs off of his second mixtape, Slaughter King. After the 3rd or 4th song, he disappeared off the stage for about 20min to change his outfit. During this time his DJ and some of his crew (?) members just played popular songs like: Bad and Boujee, XO TOUR LIF3, you get the idea. When he came back out, it was straight into all the 21 Savage that most people know. Red Opps, pretty much all of Savage Mode and a few other singles mixed in here and there like Sneakin'.

I wasn't surprised by it, but it was awesome to see 21 Savage put on a great show. He acknowledged fans throughout the night and was just having a great time. I was having a great fucking time and couldn't have been happier with the show. Then around 11:15 you would've thought that Jesus H. Christ himself rose from the dead was walked onto that stage. Out of nowhere, Peek A Boo started playing. For the first few seconds, everyone just seemed to assume 21 was going to perform it for fun. Then out of fucking nowhere, Lil Yachty runs out from the door on stage and the whole place went absolutely bananas. As an IU student, I knew that Yachty was supposed to be performing at IU that night (at a frat party) but the thought of him surprising the crowd in Indy never even crossed my mind. Yachty and 21 performed Peek A Boo, Minnesota, X, and I think a couple other songs too. My reason for not remembering was I almost passed out from being overheated so that part is slightly blurry haha.

Probably my favorite part of the entire concert wasn't even the concert, but the atmosphere. I'd say there was between 400-500 people in the whole place so it almost felt like a private concert with Lil Yachty and 21 Savage. I'd say the average age of attendees was around 19 years old so it was pretty much a party atmosphere the whole time. Being able to just forget about the stress of school and shit is a great part of any show. Immersing yourself in the show for a few hours is always the way to go, for me at least.

After the show, I got to meet 21 Savage as a part of my Meet and Greet ticket that I bought. We were hoping Yachty would do the Meet and Greet too but sadly he didn't. We waited in front of the stage for about 15min after the show for 21 to come out and take pictures. There were only around 25 of us so it didn't take him very long. Walked up, fist bumped, said what's up, snapped the pic, and headed out. I just told him that it was a great show and I appreciated it overall and he thanked me. Overall, cool guy and wasn't as intimidating as I had expected haha.

Not sure how else to wrap this up so I'll just give my overall thoughts on the experience as a whole. If you have the chance to see 21 Savage in concert and you're a genuine fan, you should definitely go. You won't be disappointed at all! Even if Lil Yachty isn't there for that show hahah. I drove around 2.5 hours round trip for the show and would do it again in a heartbeat (even tho I got pulled over on the way back). Seeing live performances is really important to me, even if I don't really know why. And if there's a Meet and Greet (for a reasonable price) I'll get it every time. Maybe I want to see if they perform to my expectations? Or underperform? I also want to be able to tell them how much their music means to me and what it means to me. Some albums (Like Savage Mode, surprisingly enough) helped get me through my terrible first semester of college so I have an emotional connection with them. Can't put my finger on it but I try to go to every concert and meet every artists I can big or small. I had Meet and Greet for Drake on the Summer Sixteen Tour but he cancelled all of them and I was pissed but that story will have to wait for another day!

TL;DR:

21 Savage put on an amazing show even with 2.5 hours of opening acts. I was beyond lucky to see Yachty and 21 on the same night so that definitely boosted my overall thoughts on the night. Either way, it was a great show and recommend it 10/10 times.
