If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: "I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye production" (you can get more specific but usually enough). And then someone will respond with recommendations X, Y, and Z.

You can also leave a top level comment recommending an artist/project/scene that you think others might like if they like X, Y, and Z.

Example: "You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats"

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

The more descriptive you guys are with your posts, the easier it is to help you find what you want. Just stating an artist's name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Exploiting Juice WRLD’s Name Spoils The Tragedy Of His Death On ‘Fighting Demons’ - Album Review

Before his untimely passing, Juice WRLD was frank about his morbid fascination with the end. Next to drugs, which took up the most space, death, the process of dying, and the emotions that simulated the closest thing to death, were primary to the then 21-year old's music. Now that he's gone, the end seems like something he can't reach. There's moral ambiguity surrounding any posthumous album, no matter how effectively it infiltrates and imitates the artists' goals. Though it was certified with trademarks of Juice's style, 'Legends Never Die' was also unnecessarily spacious. Unlike its predecessor, which housed poignancy on both ends, Juice's latest posthumous release, 'Fighting Demons', rarely plays to the artists' strength. His hampered nuance coincides with the loss of what little superintendence must remain to whoever's combed through the archives of a late rapper to squeeze two albums out of their leftovers. And as long as there's money to be made from his exploitation, it'll likely never end.

During his brief time in the public eye, Juice was widely, and rightfully, regarded as one of the few real relatable superstars. Though definitely schmaltzy at times, his unwavering commitment to minimise the isolating stigma surrounding mental illness and addiction was inspirational. He highlights the most charitable aspects of that procedure on 'Already Dead', "I'm only here by popular demand (Yeah, yeah, yeah)/I'm stayin' alive for the fans", suggesting that the struggle for survival was mutually fought and supported. True to his methodology, drug reliance is a recurring topic through the album's 56 minutes, and although it's treated as a comforting vice for Juice, it's impossible to share the relief knowing his cause of death. "Now I've been drownin' in this liquor bottle, but drowning's not enough/They tell me that I won't live to see tomorrow, but I don't give a fuck", he sings with the last of his fading fanaticism on the chorus of 'Not Enough'. He may be gone, but the voice that spoke to and for so many won't ever cease.

By insisting to continue Juice's mission, though, the album sabotages any original goodwill. Most potently, the carnage is carried out across the spoken interludes which contain excerpts from easily accessible media that, by being included, diminish Juice's voluntary intent. 'Juice WRLD Speaks', for example, just isolates a portion of a Billboard interview, flattening any of the sincere dimensions to his unique responses. And, though it's harder to source, giving a portion of Eminem's speech from 'How to Make Money Selling Drugs', which documents his own drug-related issues, its own interlude on a Juice WRLD album is about as transparent as a major enterprise endorsing LGBTQI+ rights for the sake of raking in Instagram followers.

Juice's legacy is further defaced whenever he's brushed aside to cater for collaborations and other happenings that never materialised while he was still here to approve them. After experiencing wildly successful results working with The Kid LAROI on 'STAY', Justin Bieber continues to bolster his cred with emo-rappers by dragging them into his needlessly tidy and low stakes world as he does on 'Wandered To LA'. More sensible partnerships with Polo G and Trippie Redd on 'Feline' don't fare much better, though. Neither Polo G, who spends his verse on autopilot nor Trippie Redd, who bounces around with the lacklustre restraint of a child coked up on, well, coke, can keep up with Juice who perseveres with a casual cockiness. It's a nice touch hearing him so lively amid the monochromatic filter capping the album.

In those blank, often bleak spaces, Juice's existentialism spirals, collecting new meaning that turns his songwriting into a sort of fourth-wall-breaking reality check. As he counts the time until his plug arrives, matching the encounter with the chorus when he's at his most desperate, Juice realises he's holding onto reality by staying in a contorted, drug-fueled version of it, marring his usual escapade with tragedy on 'Until The Plug Comes Back Around'. His keen attention to detail is simultaneously responsible for blurring the generic production, something 'Fighting Demons' never grows out of. Closer "My Life In A Nutshell' proves that, at its best, the album can still work with that being the case as Juice's murky, acidic cries for help metamorphose into a syrupy mess to provide the melodic contours the opaque guitars can't. Without the specificity, as 'Feel Alone' illustrates, the topic can become monotonous. The seriousness is undercut by the hook which repeats "There's times when I feel alone (There's times when I feel alone)" over and over like malfunctioning predictive text.

It's safe to assume that the scarcity of cavernous, contagious choruses, is the result of careless decision making on the part of his label, or representative, or whoever thought 'Fighting Demons' was a good idea. And, just like that, a staple of Juice's arsenal becomes part of what makes this album so much less enjoyable than his last. On opener 'Burn', Juice simply chants "Hands up in the fire, burn, burn, burn, burn" like a hellish incantation just without any nod to magic. Even when he drops the repetition for his lover on 'Go Hard', it's difficult to believe what he's saying, mostly Gen Z slang and Migo-branded ad-libs, are actual words selected by Juice WRLD, or anyone legally old enough to admit to smoking, for that matter.

It feels like a side of Juice we were never meant to see, reserved exclusively for his lover for a good reason. But that much is true of the album's best moments too. In death, the parties wound down, there's no longer room for idle collaborations with the carousing Future, drug consumption has become a harmful remedy only for the broken, and not bored frat bros. Juice knew he was headed down this path, but the plan was to do it on his own terms. 'Fighting Demons' was meant to immortalize a voice that was snuffed too quickly, not inflate his legacy with aimless rehashes of his most trivial tropes.

[FIRST IMPRESSIONS] Tory Lanez - Alone At Prom

Big fan of Tory's Music, but surprisingly this album blew me the fuck away.

It is almost literally no skips for me, I love almost every track and even the ones I don't love, they don't come across as filler whatsoever.

I was studying for finals all last night with this album on repeat a lot of the time. On my first listen I didn't like his voice with so much auto tune on some tracks / certain Melodies but after so many listens , it grew on me and doesn't bother me.

If I had a gun to my foot (Small joke), I honestly couldn't pick a top track between all of the following "The Color Violet", "Ballad of a Badman", "Plutos Last Comet", and "Hurt From Mercury"

What y'all think of it?

EDIT: I did wanna add though that I noticed ALOTTT of similar Melodies/flows/patterns in various tracks that I recognize are eerily similar to older songs by other artists. One day if I have enough time I might type up a post on them all.
