[DISCUSSION] A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (30 years later)

Just over a year after they'd released their debut album "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm", A Tribe Called Quest (consisting of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Mohamed and Jarobi) released their second album "The Low End Theory". The themes and soundscape of the album was a significant departure from their debut as well as from the sound of hiphop at the time. The album was met with widespread critical acclaim despite concerns by the label of its commercial potential. It would become certified Gold by February 1992 and Platinum by February 1995.

The release of this album was supported by the lead legendary single "Check The Rhime", the thought-provoking "Jazz (We've Got)" and "Scenario", one of the most iconic posse cuts in hip-hop history and a huge breakout for Busta Rhymes. The Low End Theory is produced entirely by the group themselves (except for Show Business and "Everything Is Fair", which are co-produced with Skeff Anselm). The album sees guest features from Vinia Mojica, Ron Carter, Diamond D, Lord Jamar, Sadat X, Busta Rhymes, Charlie Brown and Dinco D.
