[SHOTS FIRED] Young Thug threatens YFN Lucci and makes fun of his car

Posted: 18 Aug 2019 03:16 PM PDT

Young Thug threatened YFN Lucci on a now deleted Instagram story, claiming if he didn't respect Lucci providing for his Mom and kids he would have already killed him. He also appears to have found Lucci's car and is making veiled threats

Thug's full story

This comes after YFN Lucci trashed Thug's album on Instagram yesterday. The beef originated back in May after YFN Lucci called Thugger a homophobic slur on Instagram live

edit: appears it goes a lot deeper than this

Before the bootlegging issues forces Nas to redo his album, 'I Am...' was originally planned to be a conceptual double album which depicts the fictionalized life of Nas, his death and rebirth as the prophet.

'Stress: The Extinction Agenda': 25 years on, an under-discussed + unavailable classic

Posted: 18 Aug 2019 05:40 AM PDT

I was looking to post about Organized Konfusion's Stress: The Extinction Agenda on Friday, which was the 25th anni, but knowing it'd be new release day I figured I'd wait out the weekend

Wanted to write about the record because even though it's a classic, it's not available on streaming, which I think has made it more obscure than it once was. It's not brought up all that often, but Monch and Po stand tall amongst the best emcees of the '90s. There's so many reasons why: "Stress" has those anxiety-inducing horns bouncing about, "The Extinction Agenda" finds Po and Monch at their most dextrous, and Monch's verses on "Thirteen" are vividly vicious. Then there's the three beats from Buckwild of the D.I.T.C., which are just as great as those he laid for O.C., Kool G Rap and AZ in the year following. Q-Tip shows up, as does O.C., who would drop his own debut just two months later. OK fractured after their third album, and Monch's "Simon Says" is a classic breakout single, but it doesn't really do his commanding vocab justice. His voice is so animated, too, and his sense of melody and flow is incredible – his sung vocal line on "Maintain" is a highlight of the album. That's not a sample, either: he wrote the croon himself.

I also put together a piece about the album, diving into the samples that run throughout and exploring the cultural connections they bring. It's kinda my go-to angle. I saw my MadGibbs piece did well a few weeks back, so figured I'd post this one myself! If you want, you can read it here.

More importantly, though, listen to The Extinction Agenda if you haven't. If you have: favourite song? Favourite beat? Favourite verse? What do you think about the album + how it's held up over the last quarter century?
