Hip hops current stranglehold on pop culture, and the number of rappers with over the toppersonalities, makes now the perfect time to bring back the Def Jam fighting game.

I'm sure those of you around my age, just turned 28, remember Def Jam fight for New York. I had so much fun with that as a kid and it was the only game I had at the time that I could convince my sisters to play due to their ability to be rappers. Can you imagine how popular something like that would be in today's internet culture?

If they approached it right they could have a hell of a lot of fun with it. Things like getting the celebs to voice themselves or maybe even partner with MTV to run a short return of that celebrity deathmatch show for hype building/promotion. If they also put some effort into making it a competitively viable game instead of just a playable meme then I think there's a lot of money to be made here. I mean, just imagine getting good with Iggy and going around putting hands on all the twelve year olds playing X or Ski exclusively. It'd be so easy to fill out the character list. Lots of different DLC possibilities that wouldnt be play to win. Could have dlcs by the decade (80s pack, 90s pack etc.) Could group them by label, (Young Money vs Murder Inc etc.), or to keep the character list smaller, could sell "skins" that changed one rapper to another, while keeping the base move list the same. So maybe reskin Childish Gambino as Andre 3000, but keep the original Gambino fighting style. Man I could go on and on.

Last idea, but they could even incorporate online rap battles. Same way that online games usually have lobbies of 8ish players that watch each other fight 1 on 1 and winner stays, could have freestyle matches where spectators vote for the winner. Maybe 2 rounds each opponent of 45 sec with 15 sec being just the beat to allow people a second to think and then 30 se CV onds to flow and then the opponent does the same, then voting occurs for a winner and it's best 2 out of three. Would be real dope if done right. Would be a little hard to get online kids to do right tho and actually try.

Anyways, what do you guys think, yay or nay?
