If you don't know, there's basically only 3 big record labels. Universal, Sony, and Warner. Between these 3 they own all other record labels. Here I made a family tree of just a few labels that Universal, Sony, and Warner own. I only included labels housing artists that I like and that you guys would be familiar with. If you're an artist signed to one of these labels, UMG, WMG, and Sony are eating off of you. Disclaimer: Not actually only hip hop labels, but mostly hip hop labels. Universal Warner Sony edit: So I've made a few mistakes in this that I will update here. A few were really just distribution deals and not ownership. These include TDE, Rhymsayers, Odd Future Records, Stones Throw, Mau5trap and Cinematic Music Group.
