Here I made a family tree of just a few labels that Universal, Sony, and Warner own. I only included labels housing artists that I like and that you guys would be familiar with.

If you're an artist signed to one of these labels, UMG, WMG, and Sony are eating off of you.

Disclaimer: Not actually only hip hop labels, but mostly hip hop labels.

A: It's sorted by sales + streaming

Q: What are pure sales?

A: Pure sales are purchases of the album (itunes, amazon, physicals, etc)

Q: Where is X album?

A: Only albums with 10K in sales + streaming are listed

Q: Aren't those numbers low for Drake?

A: Drake released "More Life" on a Saturday night which means that he lost around 2 full days of sales.

Q: Where can I find last year's list?

A: 2016 list, 2015 list

Friendly reminder that we have subreddit rules that are linked right on the sidebar. You should read them.

We get hundreds of posts a day that break the rules—that we then have to remove, and that people sometimes angrily message us about afterward.

Reminders:

"Who is the best ___?" / "What is your favorite __?" type questions go in the Daily Discussion threads. These type of low effort ranking questions are exactly what the DDs were made for.
We have a Favorites List that you cannot post songs from, that is also located right on the sidebar. When you go to submit a link there's also a big red popup telling you to make sure you aren't posting a song from an album on the list too.
Artist Name - Song Title must be in the post title when you submit a song. This is a rule that applies for big-name rappers and for soundcloud struggle rappers alike—make sure their name and the song title is in the submission head. "check out this fire song guys!!" is not a good submission title.
