Hearing an official release of Big Black Truck is just changing my life rn

This is a whole extra album holy fuck we eating

people gassing up Big Black Truck but holy shit Up Up Away is nuts it's so good to hear vince going off again

BIG BLACK TRUCK GOES CRAZY WHEN ITS NOT SHITTY AUDIO FROM THAT ONE CONCERT

Directors Cut AKA Songs Without Cole

Top Comments in First Impressions Thread

Cool stuff, I can understand why all of these where left off but they are really decent, wish they included some remixes though like JID on swerve and johny venus on run it back

I can't believe that Still Dreamin' was cut. It's in my head since I first heard it.

I wanna see what other songs they cut at this point. Best label album I've ever listened.

There are some standout tracks like Big Black Truck, Still Up, Bussit and Up Up Away but the rest of the songs are also decent. There is not 1 song out of 12 I would consider mediocre or skipalble.

As someone who only cares about J Cole and JID, this album was my biggest surprise of 2019. Never knew this one would've been my most played one

Surprised nobody is talking about No Chorus, everyone snapped on that track

Overall the other major highlights were Big Black Truck, Still Up, and Up Up Away. I didn't dislike any tracks besides maybe Passcode

[DISCUSSION] Kendrick Lamar: untitled unmastered (5 years later)

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:59 PM PST

Just under a year after his critically acclaimed LP "To Pimp a Butterfly", Kendrick surprised (some) fans with a 34 minute compilation record composed of loose B-side tracks made during and after the making of his second album. The release of this album was allegedly prompted by LeBron James, who tweeted at Top Dawg asking the label to officially release the tracks, some of which he had been performing at shows (notably untitled 02 and untitled 08). This compilation record sees guest features from fellow TDE natives such as SZA, Punch and Jay Rock, as well as production credits from Swizz Beats' then-5 year old son on "untitled 07" (later named "levitate")

Track list:

  1. untitled 01 | 08.19.2014.
  2. untitled 02 | 06.23.2014.
  3. untitled 03 | 05.28.2013. ft. Terrace Martin, Bilal, Thundercat & Anna Wise
  4. untitled 04 | 08.14.2014. ft. SZA & Lance Skiiiwalker
  5. untitled 05 | 09.21.2014. ft. Anna Wise, Jay Rock & Punch
  6. untitled 06 | 06.30.2014. ft. Cee-Lo Green
  7. untitled 07 | 2014 – 2016
  8. untitled 08 | 09.06.2014

For me personally, this was one of the better records in a already competitive year that was 2016. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts!

  • What are your favourite tracks on this record?

  • Is the belief that this "B-side record is better than other artists' A-sides" still hold up?

  • Do these tracks act as a direct prelude to DAMN.?

Maine-O of San Francisco rap group 11/5 has passed away.

Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:31 AM PST

Via RapBay

We are sad to announce the passing of Maine-O of 11/5. We would like to send love to his family, friends and fans from across the globe. "Everybody Light Your Vega" 💔😓 #ripmaineo

Maine-O was the probably the least-known member of 11/5 (Hennessy had the distinct voice and Taydatay had the most prolific solo career,) but aside from rapping he also sang the hooks, so he was the most quoted. Below are a few of his better-known tracks:

If you wanna hear more 11/5, check out their debut Fiendin' 4 Tha Funk or their sophomore album A-1 Yola, both of which are on the /r/BayRap Bay Area Essentials List. If you have Apple Music, I have an 11/5 playlist that spans their entire career.
