Posted: 28 Nov 2018 08:18 PM PST music video in question, Death No More speech given post cancellation of one of their shows, in russian "It's official now: FSB (ex-KGB) are shutting down every IC3PEAK concert in Russia. They didn't like the political message of our last music video and the views it got, so now they try to silence us. Siloviki (FSB) come to the clubs we play and threaten the owners or simply cut the power in the whole building. All the upcoming gigs of our tour are whether cancelled, or in danger. The situation is surreal to a point that yesterday in Perm we've been under illegal surveillans by FSB - people who didn't introduce themselves asked us to leave the city. When we refused, a car was chasing us around the city and was waiting near the place we stayed the whole night. In every city we try to find new venues, but its getting more and more difficult. Next stop is Yekaterinburg, where our tour manager has already been ordered to come to police "to talk". We could just cancel the tour, but if we did - censorship would win and next one might never happen. So we'll go on touring. Wish us luck." - Nastya & Nick (IC3PEAK) tl;dr they recently released an album with a song/video criticizing the russian government, which has led to the FSB tracking them down as they tour, threatening venue owners and cutting off their sound midway through shows. its gotten to the point where they have shown up in their scheduled city and announced the venue they are playing at as the show starts in order to prevent shows from being shut down (which they still are). they stated they do not plan to cancel their tour this whole situation is super wild. ive been listening to ic3peak for a bit of time now and i havent really seen anyone in america talk about them. their last two albums are very good and worth checking out imo. hope things end up well for them edit: posting some of my favorite tracks for new listeners. their last album СКАЗКА is definitely one of my favorite releases this year [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Nov 2018 10:30 AM PST I was clearing some old stuff from my parents' house last year and came accross a stack of old isses of Hip-Hop Connection from the mid 2000s. It's really interesting looking through them, seeing how things have changed and the trends of the time. I went through the magazine marking pages that I thought were interesting or note worthy and I scanned them in. I posted the pages up on my website along with an article discussing the contents of the magazine. You can read the article here. If you're not interested in what I have to say then you can look through the pages in this Imgur album. The article I wrote ended up way longer than I intended and took me a very long time to put together but there was so much I wanted to write about, this magazine meant a lot to me as a teenager. I hope you enjoy reading some of the articles and find my comments informative/interesting. To those of you who were following hip-hop at the time, which of these pages makes you the most nostalgic? To those of you who have become hip-hop fans more recently, what about this magazine surprises you the most? [link] [comments] |
