If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Look through past posts here

ALSO please check out this thread for a list of some of the most popular recommendation requests and the suggestions provided

A$AP Rocky (feat. Skepta) - Praise The Lord (Da Shine) coming out Friday

I am truly disappointed with the TDE Championship Tour (review)

Posted: 06 May 2018 08:01 PM PDT

I hope this is worthy of its own post but this is sort of a heads up for anyone still debating buying a ticket for the tour. Also I was at the Friday show in Vancouver but I just got around to writing this out tonight at the airport.

First of all, our seats were not good. We by no means paid for the nicest seats so we did expect to get what we paid for. But what we got was really unexpected. We were side stage in the bowl and the view was almost completely obstructed by a set of 18 lights and a big speakers. We really were incapable of seeing the artists for a good portion of the show. I'll post a picture in the comments. Again, you get what you pay for, so moving on.

This may as well be called the Q and Sza opening for Kendrick tour. Don't get me wrong the 3 of them had great sets and I'm a big fan of all 3. But if you're going expecting many career-spanning TDE collabs as we were you may be disappointed. They literally played 2 collabs: Money Trees (highlight of the night) and Love. Strike 1 was when Q performed Kendrick's verse on Collard Greens instead of Kendrick coming out to perform it. We thought this was illogical if he was at the venue.

Another thing I should mention is that because I have seen Q and Kdot in the past, I was really excited for an Ab-Soul and a Jay Rock set. Two days later and I still can't believe that they only played one song each: Terrorist Threats and King's Dead (where Kendrick did not even perform his verse). Considering that SiR played 5 songs or so, this was really surprising to us.

The next strike was when SZA performed Doves in the Wind and they let Kendrick's full verse play over the speakers instead of him coming out to perform it. At this point we were starting to wonder if Kendrick was even at the show.

At the end of the day we did see a great Kendrick set but we couldn't help but feel disappointed with the content of the show. We were expecting to hear some great black hippy and TDE collabs from the last decade considering they were all at the show. Instead there was only 2 or 3 separate occasions where just 2 of them were onstage at once. I would say that my biggest disappointed remains the single Soul song that was performed. I can't understand why he would even want to tour with them to play song at each venue.

Anyways that's my two cents. Be cautious of this tour if you were envisioning a great career-spanning victory lap setlist. This was just the DAMN tour revamped in my opinion. We were the first stop of the tour so maybe they will turn it around as time goes on. We definitely were not the only people in our section who were disappointed.

[SHOTS FIRED] Tekashi 6ix9ine faces threats from Tadoe over Cuban Doll: 'Lose her number, I kill people'

Posted: 06 May 2018 01:23 PM PDT

Based on the information I can gather, Tadoe is an abusive boyfriend, and has had several questionable incidents involving his girl Cuban Doll (who is also a female emcee). The newest target in his crosshairs seems to be Tekashi69.

From the Article:

The first video is of Tadoe FaceTiming with Tekashi 6ix9ine. One would assume Tadoe was invasively skimming through his girlfriend's phone when 6ix9ine's number or their message history came into view. Tadoe threatens to kill and Tekashi retorts by telling him "he won't kill nobody." Tadoe's final words being "Lose her number, I kill people," simply put.

In a separate but related incident, Cuban Doll shared her bruises from an alleged fight with Tadoe over the same issues of jealousy. The live segment was filmed at the Hospital where she appeared to be waiting on a doctor's examination of her injuries. She even posted images of her battered up face on Tadoe's account before he took them down. The video below has been verified as hers and hers only. Jealousy is a sickness, is it not?

Lil Yachty Before He Was Famous. Black Hair. Before Swiping Cards. TV Anchor, Comedian, then Rapper

Posted: 06 May 2018 09:46 PM PDT

So, Lil Yachty's story is he was swiping cards . . had pieces hitting . . That's while he was in College. However, before that his character matched the voice totally.

1) This was when Yatchy was practicing to be a TV anchor at high school in Atlanta. He had a show he hosted called "The Bill Collins Show" apparently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmSoL0M9_KU

2) lol Telling people to meet him. "Sex Offender Billy" at the park at 6.. .this might be high school. Obviously he started finding his swagger at this point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0KfA5OM3gA

3) Swagger was def found here and 'the blood gang' became part of his life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gT5GKPAOoFQ

4) After getting jammed up for swiping cards.. He started making rap music b/c he figured his college career options got slimmed down. He cut his hair, dyed it red: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdHKjqHqEjg

5) Supposedly he's in this rapper's video in the Dominican Republic.... urr.. i don't see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQcnTff93ns

Rae Sremmurd's 1st Videos in Tupelo as "Outta St8 Boyz"

Posted: 06 May 2018 08:55 AM PDT

Outta St8 Boyz was Rae Sremmurd's 1st group. The kids who 1st rap with them, quit, losing belief in the Dream. I think they employed one that helped though, after fame..... which was dope. I was in Tupelo once and a girl who went to school with them worked at the grocery store (This a smallllll town) just off the Interstate exit... and said they had like 2 bandmates that didn't get to 'blow up though

Party Animals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0TPCDrGBXY

"Sway Lee" is name of this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZsUsFLqJ4o

FREEVERSES...Swae's 1st name was 'Kid Crunk' not Sway Lee / Slim Jxmmi's name was 'Kid Cali" ... "King Dre" still with the Sremmlife posse I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPtAw2BdCFo

My personal favorite of their originals. "Just Like You" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM-1snkeRRE

Introduction: Hello r/hiphopheads, I will be running the best hook thread once a week every Sunday! This will be run very similarly to the Best Verse Threads we had a while ago, as you can see the format is almost identical to the old threads. All you have to do is just post your favorite Kendrick Lamar hook with a link to the hook. And if you want to, you can quote the hook word for word in your comment. The comment with the most upvotes will be deemed that artists best hook! And at the end of the year we will decide the best hook of the ones we collected! This is my first time doing anything like this so any recommendations to formatting, anything else helpful would be great!

Biography: American rapper Kendrick Lamar has released four studio albums, one compilation album, one extended play (EP), five mixtapes, 43 singles (including 30 as a featured artist), three promotional singlesand 55 music videos. Lamar initially performed under the stage name K-Dot, releasing three mixtapes under the moniker: Y.N.I.C. (Hub City Threat: Minor of the Year) (2005), Training Day (2007) and C4 (2009). He gained major attention after the release of his fifth mixtape Overly Dedicated, which was released in 2010. It was Lamar's first full-length project to be released under his birth name and fared well enough to enter the United States Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it peaked at number 72. Lamar's debut studio album Section.80, was released on July 2, 2011 and issued on independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE). It peaked at number 113 on the US Billboard200 chart. The album's lead single, "HiiiPoWeR", was released prior to the album through iTunes. In mid-2012, Lamar began promoting his second studio album and major label debut, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City. The album's first single, "The Recipe", peaked at number 38 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart."Swimming Pools (Drank)", the album's lead single, peaked at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became his first top 20 hit on the chart. Good Kid, M.A.A.D City was released in October 2012, through TDE, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. The album received universal critical acclaim and reached number two on the Billboard 200. On March 16, 2015, Lamar released his third studio album, To Pimp a Butterfly. The album was preceded by two singles, "i" and "The Blacker the Berry", which charted at numbers 39 and 66 on the US Billboard Hot 100, respectively. To Pimp a Butterfly received universal critical acclaim upon release, much like its predecessor, and had global charting success, debuting at number one on the overall albums charts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, as well as topping the US Billboard 200.On March 4, 2016, Lamar released Untitled Unmastered, a compilation album containing previously unreleased demos that originated during the recording of To Pimp a Butterfly. The compilation album gave Lamar his second chart-topping set in less than a year. On April 14, 2017, his fourth studio album, Damn, was released and reached number one on the Billboard 200, and has since been certified 2× Platinum. The album spawned the singles "Humble", "Loyalty" and "Love", which all reached the top 15 of the US Billboard Hot 100, with "Humble" becoming his first number-one single in the United States as a lead artist.
