My name is Johan Lenox. I grew up composing music for orchestras and choirs as this sorta classical semi-prodigy in suburban Massachusetts. I didn't really listen to any pop or hip-hop music that whole time, until one night when I got to hear Kanye's MBDTF album while on acid at a house party, and became convinced that I wanted to make that type of music. After a few years of working on my sound, I've just released my debut album WDYWTBWYGU. On it I sing about growing up in America during the end of the world, over 808s and lush orchestral arrangements.

Some other projects I've been involved in along the way include Yeethoven, an orchestral concert featuring mashups of Kanye and Beethoven music, as well as doing production and composition for a wide range of artists including Kanye West, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Lil Nas X, Brockhampton, Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez.

I was just in court where a judge denied bond for Gunna and set his trial date for Jan. 9, 2023. Prosecutors allege YSL is a gang, not just a record label. They also alleged Gunna serves in a “command” role. More to come for @billboard

Prosecutors said Gunna is a "documented" gang member and that he and Williams "direct their troops" to commit violent acts. The judge said his biggest concern was witness tampering.

In 2007 J Cole waited outside Jay-Z’s studio for nearly 2 hours to give him his CD, once J Cole finally had the chance to give Jay-Z the mixtape, Jay-Z saw Cole and said “Man, I don’t want that.” One Year Later, Jay-Z was the one asking to see Cole and eventually signed him to his Label.

J. Cole's scenario was straight forward. He thought "Maybe we could just slide him the CD and if we slide him the CD, he'll go upstairs and listen to it, and if he listens to it, he's gonna love it and he's gonna send down, you know, for me to come upstairs and he's probably going to sign me — or whatever was in my head."

Two hours passed before Jay-Z showed up in a black Rolls Royce Phantom. The opportunity came, standing in front of J. Cole was the person who he had visualized, dreamt of meeting, and moved to New York for. This was the person who could hand him his ticket from his overdue rent and into stardom. As he walked up to Jay-Z, words refused to form but J. Cole mustered up the courage to approach Jay-Z and hand him the CD.

Jay-Z saw Cole and said "Man, I don't want that." Cole in an interview with ABC said that "I thought he was evil at that point — cause it caught me off guard, I had such high hopes, that just one little phrase like that from him."

A year later, it was Jay-Z asking to meet J. Cole. The same person he previously dismissed. Veteran A&R Mark Pitts played for Jay-Z one song which lead to a three-hour meeting which lead to multiple meetings until eventually, J. Cole was officially the first artist signed to Roc Nation.
