Recommended If You Like Thread - May 23, 2020

If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

It's been one year since Beast coast released their debut album as a collective - 'Escape from New York', selling 16,000 first week and debuting at #29 on the billboard 200.

Did this album meet expectations for you? How has it aged, what songs are still in rotation, where do beast coast go next?

Vol #1 of a 2-part Tribute mix celebrating 25 Years of Mobb Deep's magnum opus 'The Infamous'
This album was monumental, and began a shift to a more sombre/grittier sound in hip hop. Havoc's production was top notch on this album, due in part to assists from Q-Tip. They both stepped their rhymes up from the Juvenile Hell LP by leaps & bounds. Top 10 album IMO. I included some different stuff on here to make things a bit more interesting, like a recreation of the James Brown vocal sample hook for Survival Of The Fittest that was never heard by the public due to sample clearance issues.....

Key Glock's new mixtape Son of a Gun has arrived via Paper Route Empire.

The features-free project was produced by PRE beatsmith Bandplay and includes tracks like "Come Thru," "Money Talk," and "Rich Blessed N Savage." Son of a Gun is the follow up to Glock's latest album, Yellow Tape, which dropped in January.

Glock signed to Young Dolph's label, Paper Route in 2017; that same year, Glock released his debut mixtape Glock Season under the label. In 2019, Dolph and Glock released the joint album Dum and Dummer, which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200.

Earlier this year, Dolph announced his impending retirement from rap, telling Complex, "I'm done doing music so I can go kick it with my son."

While it's unclear when Dolph will officially retire, PRE means he isn't abandoning Memphis' music scene any time soon. In addition to Glock, Dolph's hometown-based label boasts a roster with other local acts, including Jay Fizzle, Big Moochie Grape, and more, with Glock expected to be the "torch-bearer."
