If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Look through past posts here

In a now deleted voice memo, Kevin Abstract of Brockhampton laments that he no longer feels comfortable releasing music and that his obligation under his label is like "living in hell" (x-post from r/brockhampton)

https://www.reddit.com/r/brockhampton/comments/bkioi7/new_audio_clip_from_ian_up_on_arizonababyworld/

Last night, Kevin Abstract of Brockhampton released a voice memo on his site in which he seems to express regret over the RCA deal and reflects on the last year of his work. The memo is now deleted but I've attached a mirror below.

https://reddit.com/link/bknnrv/video/dqj8bgy8d8w21/player

Some choice excerpts from the memo include

"Saturation 1, 2 and 3, was my moment of catching magic."

"I'm currently writing music, and songs and albums from hell."

"I have to release music not from joy but from obligation, which will cause messy, unfinished work."

I hope Kevin can get whatever help that will cause him to feel more normal and adapted to his fame and obligations. It will be interesting to see if the RCA deal will already be dissolved this soon.

Just left early from the Earl Sweatshirt concert in Houston.

Posted: 04 May 2019 09:28 PM PDT

TL;DR: The Earl Sweatshirt concert was mid as hell, all of the openers had no chemistry with the audience, Earl was obviously phoning it in and was high out of his mind.

This is my 2nd Earl concert. I got to see him on the ready to leave now tour in 2015 after he had to cancel the not ready to leave tour due to health issues if im correct. Anyway that show was pretty good. Remy Banks put on a good show despite no one knowing who he was. Nxworries opened up for him well before Anderson Paak blew up as hard as he did. Unfortunately Houston has a history of being a city of hecklers which is what causes a bunch of artists to avoid the city as a whole. The crowd was REALLY not fucking with Nxworries, at one point Paak said something like "yall ready to turn up" or something and someone audibly yelled no. Knxwledge laughed at the guy and said "hold up this dude said no." Earl came on and after about 30 minutes of his performace my sister had an asthma attack so i had to take her home.

Now THIS concert though, was incredibly mid. It already started bad after I found out Na-kel Smith wasn't at the show. Incredibly disappointing to me because I didn't get to see him at the thrasher show at sxsw. Mike was the first opener, the dude tried in some cases but had no chemistry with the audience. On top of that he forgot he was in Houston and at one point said "what's up Austin???" His show ended and the next opener Liv.e started. Despite being my favorite part of the concert it was yet another instance of having no chemistry with the audience. She had some pretty good instrumentals and I loved her voice, but no one was really vibing along and she just began berating half the audience for not turning up. After her performance black noise was supposed to perform but then out of nowhere earl just kind of walks on stage and says "what the fuck is up Houston?" Thus began the most disappointing portion of the Earl Sweatshirt concert, Earl Sweatshirt. Mans was visibly high, tired, and disinterested. He even audibly expressed his excitement for the tour almost being over, "man yall one of the last ones and then WE OUT." I honestly can't blame him though, touring extensively im sure is exhausting. Man kind of just slurred and mumbled his way through all his songs. I remember reading someone saying "earl doesn't make concert music" and especially after this I agree. I honestly felt as if i wasted my time showing up, and kinda feel like earl feels the same way. At the end of the day I'm glad im still supporting an artist i've seen grow since high school but as a big fan I can fully admit Earl is a horrible performer.

Edit: in retrospect my final sentence is contradictory to what i said earlier in the post, Earl CAN be a good performer but in this instance he absolutely was not.

Edit 2: I can't believe I forgot to mention this but the crowd was also pretty bad. Some dudes in the back where shouting during Liv.e's performance for her to finish already and when Earl performed Grief the ENTIRE audience began his verse a whole measure or 2 early which seemed to have bothered him because he began his verse normally but after saying something like "yo yo yo hold on hold on *begins verse*"
