Ice Cream Man marks the start of the 2nd era for Master P and No Limit Records, him and his company was now based in New Orleans and he had a bunch of new affiliates like Silkk, C-Murder, Mia-X, Mr. Serv On and a bunch of others. This is also where he started to get fame and really hated on, in the next few years he would rule the hip hop industry with his carbon copy products releasing dozens and dozens of albums per year. I was the first to hate on him when I was younger but exploring his discography really made me realize that he wasn't that bad after all, he constantly dropped that gangsta shit that hip hop fans fiended for. The production is a blend of his older west coast style along with a little bit of that UGK southern sound, it sounds mostly different from his previous albums and it's pretty cool overall... Perhaps 80 minutes is a little too long for a hip hop album, but this was a problem that plagued hip hop in general and not only just Master P. Lyrically it's your typical palette of gangsta rap subjects but Master P often gets conscious explaining the wrongs of doing all this crack selling, how he's addicted to it and how he can't get out of the game. Like most of Master P's catalogue, this is really entertaining and it's worth checking out for gangsta rap fans.

Guidelines

This is an open thread for you to share your thoughts on the album. Avoid vague statements of praise or criticism. This is your chance to practice being a critic. It's fine for you to drop by just to say you love the album, but let's try and step it up a bit!!!

How has this album affected hip-hop? WHY do you like this tape? What are the best tracks? Do you think it deserves the praise it gets? Is it the first time you've listened to it? What's your first impression? Have you listened to the artist before? Explain why you like it or why you don't.

DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING LATE!!!! Discussion throughout the week is encouraged.

Next week's EAOTW will be N.O.D. - N****z of Destruction
