alright first off I would like to clear some things and mistakes I made in my last post here 1. "there's no evidence so this guy is obviously a fraud" for evidence the two pieces I have are an email from j cole's management and the actual credits of 4yeo. where I am credited as BLVK. on production. 2. "His account is only an hour old, obvious fraud" okay you got me here it was a dumb idea making such a big post withoutn evidence and with an hour old account. totally taking the L there but I made the account to make this actual post because it was suggested to me by a friend. so my bad there but i am in fact BLVK. for those who were wondering what my soundcloud was it is soundcloud.com/yungmai. 3. "how much money did you make, did you get credit?, did you get paid?" I'l answer as many of these questions as possible without breaching my contract so ask away. overall I wanna apologize for making such a shitty post, no evidence and no explanation, but the story is 100% fact and would love to discuss any similar successes and answer any questions that anyone may have. what up, this is my first time on this /r but I felt like many people would like to hear this story and also s/o to Kendall Miles for suggesting it. I am the lead producer for the track "4 your eyez only" on J Cole's latest album. Here is basically the story of how it came to be and steps I took. My stage name is "BLVK." and I started making beats my sophmore year of high school. I'm in my first year of college now and in my junior year I came across an old japanese funk mix on youtube. I was not taking music as serious at the time as i am now and just chopped a few things from the mix and threw them onto my soundcloud. A few weeks later I get an email from J Cole's management inquiring about one of the beats on my soundcloud. It was weird since I only had about 700 soundcloud followers at the time and was basically invisible in the large community of soundcloud producers. it turned out that J cole had found my track randomly through soundcloud which is insane because the odds of that happening are nearly astronomical. I sent the management the beat and stems back in may of 2016. the next 2 months were spent searching for the sample because the mix that i had sampled from had no tracklist. I eventually found the sample which was Yuji Ohno's "To The Oasis" after this, the sample was cleared and I had officially produced on a feature hip hop album at the age of 17. Even today it still blows my mind and makes me want to share this story to my fellow soundcloud producers who are trying to make it and let them know to always but your best forward cause you never know who's listening.
