On this day 5 years ago, Kendrick Lamar dropped the follow-up to the critically acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly, just one year after dropping the unreleased compilation of untitled unmastered. To this date, this is the latest full-length LP that we've received from him, other than later contributions in producing The Black Panther soundtrack.

This project was preceded by the surprise release of The Heart Part IV, which teased an original release date of April 7th for everyone to get their shit together, which later got pushed back a week later. Before that, we also received HUMBLE as the lead single, and to date has now become his most successful single of all time. The full LP was lauded upon release, eventually becoming the first non-jazz or classical piece of music to win a Pulitzer Prize.
