[DISCUSSION] CunninLynguists - Will Rap for Food (20 Years Later)

Posted: 23 Nov 2021 10:00 AM PST

Will Rap for Food is the debut album by southern hip hop group CunninLynguists, at the time only consisting of Deacon the Villain and Kno). It was released October 2001 on Urban Aces. The album is mostly produced by Kno, with contributions from Celph Titled and Deacon the Villain, respectively, on the singles "So Live!" and "616 Rewind", which was released via Buds Distribution.[4] Will Rap for Food was re-issued in 2005 by Freschest Records.[5]

The album's title derives from a line from a 2002 Kashal Tee song, "I'm All This", in which he says: "So fuck the commercial tracks you be doin' - A brother got to eat - Yeah? Why don't you rap for food then?" It is played in the intro of "Lynguistics" and Kashal Tee is also featured on the song "616 Rewind".[citation needed] In addition, the quotation could be rooted back to the 2000 album of Guru, Jazzmatazz vol.3 where, in the song "Who's There?", a featuring with Les Nubians, he says: "These distraught thoughts of a young man in a rooming house, This messed up life, this poverty, he could do without, But what options does he have when all hope is gone? A brother gotta eat, plus all the Henny and all the smoke is gone, All it takes is one quick stick".[6]

[DISCUSSION] Yelawolf - Radioactive (10 Years Later)

Posted: 22 Nov 2021 09:00 AM PST

Radioactive (also known as Radioactive: Amazing and Mystifying Chemical Tricks) is the second studio album and major label debut by American rapper Yelawolf. It was released on November 21, 2011 through Shady Records and Interscope Records.

Music composition, style, and lyrics

Radioactive covers many different styles of hip hop fusions, being alternative hip hop as principal musical genre. Hardcore hip hop is represented on the tracks "Radioactive Introduction", "Throw It Up", "Get Away", and "Slumerican Shitizen". A horrorcore rap style is used in "Growin' Up in the Gutter", whereas "Hard White (Up in the Club))" is a crunk party track. "Let's Roll", "Write Your Name", and "Radio)" follow a pop rap style, with catchy hooks and beats. "Animal" is a fast-paced hip hop party track with a dubstep influenced beat. "Good Girl" utilizes an R&B-tinged feel, while "The Hardest Love Song in the World" is a g-funk hip hop track. Yelawolf covers a variety of lyrical themes in these album, from gangsta rap lyrics in "Get Away" and "Throw It Up", to more conscious and slightly political tracks such as "Made in the USA", "Slumerican Shitizen", "Write Your Name", and "The Last Song". "Radio" is about the internet taking over how music and music videos are received by fans. It also refers to radio stations playing the same songs constantly and singers being discovered via the internet. The song contains several references to rock and rap artists and their songs from the past."Write your Name" is produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League With samples from the Reza Pishro "Tehran".[3]#citenote-3) The album's final track, titled "The Last Song" described as very personal about Yelawolf's life, and it's a very emotional final letter to his absent biological father and talks about other past struggles.[[4]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive(Yelawolfalbum)#cite_note-4)[[5]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive(Yelawolfalbum)#cite_note-5)[[6]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radioactive(Yelawolf_album)#cite_note-6)
