[OC] To prepare for the release of Kanye West & Kid Cudi's album Kids See Ghosts, I have compiled a list of EVERY song that features both artists. Including songs NOT on streaming services!

Posted: 07 Jun 2018 01:28 PM PDT

Hello! As many of you know Kanye West and Kid Cudi's collaborative album, Kids See Ghosts, is scheduled to debut tonight at a listening event starting at 8PM PST (11PM EST). Kid Cudi has tweeted that you can listen to the live debut using the Wav app (same as Kanye's release of Ye one week ago). To celebrate this release, I have compiled a list of every single Kanye/Cudi collaboration to date (ONLY songs where they both have vocals. Sorry to everyone pointing out songs with production/writing credits). Let me know what you guys think or if there's any songs I've missed!

Song Title Artist Album Year Stream Link Note
Welcome to Heartbreak Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi 808s & Heartbreak 2008 Spotify First collaboration
Paranoid* Kanye West 808s & Heartbreak 2008 Spotify Thanks to u/Schnix (and several others) for pointing out that Cudi provides vocals on this track!
Make Her Say Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West & Common Man on the Moon: The End of Day 2009 Spotify Kid Cudi's debut album
Erase Me Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager 2010 Spotify
Wild'n Cause I'm Young Remix* Kid Cudi ft. Kanye West Cutting Floor of Man on the Moon II 2010 YouTube Thanks to u/itsthecud (and several others) for pointing out this great song!
GOOD Friday Kanye West ft. Common, Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, & Charlie Wilson GOOD Fridays 2010 YouTube One of my favorite songs that flies under the radar because GOOD Friday tracks are not on streaming services
Christian Dior Denim Flow Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks & Ryan Leslie GOOD Fridays 2010 YouTube Another great GOOD Fridays track where Cudi really shines
The Joy Kanye West ft. Pete Rock, JAY-Z, Charlie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield & Kid Cudi GOOD Fridays 2010 www.tidal.com/browse/track/7597293 Bonus track on 2011's Watch the Throne with slightly different credits
Gorgeous Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi & Raekwon My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2010 Spotify Hearing this song for the first time converted me from a Kanye fan to a Kanye Stan
All of the Lights Kanye West (ft. Kid Cudi among various artists) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2010 Spotify Cudi harmonizes with a bunch of other artists throughout
Welcome to the World T.I. ft. Kanye West & Kid Cudi No Mercy 2010 Spotify Perhaps the only song on this list you wouldn't have expected
The Morning Kanye West ft. Raekwon, Pusha T, Common, 2 Chainz, Cyhi the Prynce, Kid Cudi & D'banj Cruel Summer 2012 Spotify Cudi provides a cool little hook near the end of the song
Guilt Trip Kanye West Yeezus 2013 Spotify Cudi has uncredited vocals
Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 Kanye West The Life of Pablo 2016 Spotify IMO this is where Cudi has been at his best in recent years – singing a hook or background vocals over a nice Kanye beat
Waves Kanye West The Life of Pablo 2016 Spotify
No Mistakes* Kanye West Ye 2018 Spotify Thanks to u/mcronagall for pointing this out. I don't know how I missed this when I've been listening to it for a week straight...
Ghost Town Kanye West Ye 2018 Spotify Cudi's vocals are a little polarizing but this may be similar to what we'll hear later tonight

If I missed anything let me know and I'll add to the list!

I'm not sure why Tidal won't link properly but the full link is up there.

Honorable mention: Can't Look In My Eyes (thanks to u/papalvo). I don't think this had an official release but a collaboration nonetheless.

* Added after my initial post. Thanks to everyone giving me additional songs.

[SHOTS FIRED] Prof calls out Russ for comments at Minnesota hip-hop festival Soundset

Posted: 07 Jun 2018 02:42 PM PDT

Basically, during Russ' set at Soundset, he said some crazily egotistical shit. One quote by the infamous rapper which particularly stood out to Minnesotans:

"I'm the only person on this stage that matters today."

Prof's tweets: https://twitter.com/profgampo/status/1004788476158586882?s=21

https://twitter.com/profgampo/status/1004795964316667904?s=21

https://twitter.com/profgampo/status/1004808172937326593?s=21

https://twitter.com/profgampo/status/1004835972608151553?s=21

I guarantee you he won't take these down but here's what they say in case he does:

""I'm the only person on this stage that matters today"

  • @russdiemon during @soundset

On the same stage that I, Wu-tang, Tyler, Logic, Migos, Erykah Badu and more played on.

I don't take kindly to that."

"Ain't no way dude would have the balls to respond to me...

Just so he knows I'm here in MPLS is enough.

If he don't change his mouth something will get done."

"People been hittin up my phone after my @russdiemon tweet.

Workers, people and press at soundset.

He basically shit on everyone there. Shit on Minnesota.

Fuck that dude. Entitled lil prick. Ima see him again."

Prof is rooted in Minneapolis and reps the city as hard as any rapper ever has. He's well-respected and with his ties to Rhymesayers he performs at Soundset every year - a staple of the festival. His shows are must-see and he's seen it all. Really rare of him to shit on someone else at the festival but Russ definitely deserved it. What a tool.

Hip-Hop Listening Club of the Week #252: Mach Hommy - HBO (Haitian Body Odor)

Posted: 01 Jun 2018 11:02 AM PDT

Welcome to HHH Listening Club!

Today we'll be listening to Haitian Body Odor by Mach Hommy

Background: courtesy of XXL

Haitian Body Order is a 18-track album that consists of some production from August Fanon, Xavier Anderson, Roc Marciano and Camouflage Monk. It also has features from Conway and Keisha Plum. The studio effort catches Hommy rapping about multiple women laying in the bed on records such as "Plenty", living his life thoroughly and quoting the motto M.O.B. on "Bey Six," rappers with sour faces and tucking the lil uzi in the trunk on "Midnight Xpress" and some spoken word on "Michelle Ma Belle."

The album reflects the era of hip-hop where simplicity was everything. The production and the rhymes are very catchy, but all in all extremely straight forward and direct.

Nipsey Hussle On Kanye West Wearing The MAGA Hat: “It Was A Kick In The Gut”

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 08:37 AM PDT

After talking about his new tour, the 4-minute discussion quickly transitioned into Nipsey's decision to put a photo of Kanye West wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat on the screen behind him during his performance of "Fuck Donald Trump" at the Broccoli City Festival in Washington, D.C. back in April.

Nipsey wanted to clear the air that he wasn't taking a shot at Kanye, but was just trying to find a visual representation that matched up with where the conversation was going. "I wouldn't even consider that a personal jab at dude," he said. "I just felt like when I was doing visuals for these songs, it was no more fitting a piece of art or picture that represented how people felt about the president, and what the convo around dude was at the time."

However, Nipsey did admit that when Kanye was spotted wearing the MAGA hat that it felt like a kick in the gut to him & the people.

"As people, me coming from the street, representing the street, that's how we all felt when we seen that dude with that hat on, like it was a kick in the gut," he said.

I Thought About Killing You - Ye

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 08:04 PM PDT

After the very first listen of Kanye's 8th studio album 'Ye' I was unsure about the opening track 'I Thought About Killing You'. After several more listens I came to a conclusion – This track was written by Kanye for Kanye.

Kanye's supposed bipolarity is a recurring theme throughout the album and I believe this theme starts with this opening track. Kanye opens the song by stating that "The most beautiful thoughts are always besides the darkest" and follows this up by stating that "Today I seriously thought about killing you". After my initial listen I thought nothing of this but Kanye being Kanye, until I listened again.

My thought is that Kanye is speaking to himself about his own suicidal thoughts. This is where his bipolarity comes into play. I believe that Kanye identifies with his happier more lively self, and while his sudden states of depression are a part of who he is, he may see these thoughts as those of an outsider. Just as he says "I love myself way more than I love you", 'you' being Kanye's depressed thoughts.

This conclusion is only furthered by the following lines "Don't say this, don't say that. Just say it out loud, just to see how it feels. Weigh all the options, nothings off the table." Here I believe that Kanye may be battling the stigma of suicide. While it often is not talked about, it is seen as a viable option for those with depression and other mental health issues.

So at first glance I saw nothing but typical God-complex Kanye West, but after listening and contemplating I believe Kanye may be trying to share a part of his struggle which seems to only make him that much more human... or I'm just reaching.
