[DISCUSSION] Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager (10 year anniversary)

Posted: 09 Nov 2020 04:45 AM PST

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Kid Cudi's sequel to Man on the Moon: The End of Day. Personally, as a high school sad boy when this album dropped, this is my favorite album of all time. Cudi really did feel like an older brother, and going through my own struggles while he exposed the world to his made me instantly connect to this album in a way I never had. What're your thoughts?

What is the best use of hip-hop or R&B in a TV show or movie? What TV shows consistently have good hip-hop or R&B needle drops?

Training Day's use of Still DRE is legendary

Die Hard's use of "Christmas In Hollis" is also great

The Creed running scene with "Lord Knows" by Meek Mill

The Chopped-n-Screwed Classic Man scene in Moonlight

The Beastie Boys' Sabatoge scene in Star Trek: Beyond

"Life's A Bitch" at the end of Fish Tank

The opening of Belly

I love Return Of the Crooklyn Dodgers in Clockers.

Fight The Power in Do the Right Thing is classic.

Office Space makes good use of hip hop for comedic effect. The soundtrack features Canibus, Slum Village, Kool Keith, Ice Cube, Scarface, and probably most notably "Damn It Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" by Geto Boys.

"100 Black Coffins" in Django Unchained was great.

[DISCUSSION] GoldLink - And After That, We Didn’t Talk (5-Year Anniversary)

Posted: 09 Nov 2020 11:26 AM PST

And After That, We Didn't Talk is the second mixtape from American rapper GoldLink. It was released in November 2015 on Soulection, following his critically acclaimed debut mixtape, The God Complex. The mixtape features guest appearances from Anderson Paak and Masego. The project's production was handled by Louie Lastic, Merg, Galimatias, McCallaman, Braeden Bailey, Medasin, Milo Mills, Demo-Tapped, Tom Misch, and Jordan Rakei.

His debut album concerns a relationship and subsequent breakup he had when he was 16, and the details are often kept elusive.

5 years later, do you think the album has held up well? Where would you rank it in his discography? Favorite/Least Favorite songs?
