Hef Bundy

Ik ben die nigga in die hooptie / met me seat back / Airmax, paar packs in me eastpack / manne voele als ik shit op die beat zeg

If you have listened to any Dutch hiphop, you have most likely encountered Hef before, because if there was an Essentials List for Dutch rap, there would be at least 4 or 5 Hef projects on there. Hef grew up in de Bijlmer & Hoogvliet, two rough neighbourhoods. As a kid of drug dealing parents, he was out on the streets from a young age. His rise onto the scene began in the late '00s, dropping videos/singles on YouTube, such as the absolute classics Puur & Luie Mannen as well as the legendary 101Barz with his brothers Adje/Ado'Nis & Crooks.

The first mixtape he released was a collaborative effort with his two brothers, Boyz In De Hood (if anyone has a download for this, please hit me up, I've been looking all over and all links are dead). In the same year he released the mixtape/pre-album Hefvermogen, which would later be released as an album with extra tracks through the label Noah's Ark. Some of the best tracks on this classic project are Op Een Missie, Feunen & Gone. This project is filled with clever lines about weed, girls, cars and money, the four Hef commandments, so to speak.

Ik ben 22, ik heb zoveel dingen die ik wil doen / rapmoney is wack, ik wil een miljoen / Let's get it in, ik ben down homey. Hoe of wat? / Nog steeds fly van m'n schoenen naar m'n hoodie swa

At this point he had found his place in the game and everybody was checking for him. In 2010 he did a tour and released a mixtape with Murda/Önder/Murda Turk as 'BangBros' and promised an album together, which would take until 2017 to be released (BangBros – Bruin Brood). In 2012 his second solo album was released, Papierwerk, with tracks such as Kluis (absolute classic) & Kutleven.

In 2013 Hef released a project with his little brother Crooks, called Freddy & Bundy. Good songs: Puf & Draai Een Jerry.

At this point in his career he 'modernized' his sound a bit, starting with the 6,5 EP, which was released in 2015, leading up to an album. The beats were sounding a bit more synth and even trap like, but it was still Hef shit. My favourite track from this EP is 5 Gram. The album, 13, released in the same year, was another step into the 'modern Hef' direction. The best track on this project is probably Kofferbak, which has a super dope GTA-video concept.

In 2015 he worked on the Straight Outta Control project with Big2, Cho, Dio, MocroManiac & Adje, an EP inspired by the Straight Outta Compton movie that was released at that time. My favourite track from this EP is Dat Nu.

2016 saw Hef release another album, Ruman. This record featured even more of modern Hef, with quite a bit of singing, and was a good continuation of the evolution of his sound IMO. Favourite tracks: Tien Blokken & Shooter.

His latest album, Geit, released in 2017, featured a lot of the same sounds as on Ruman. My favourite track on this is probably the single, Hoop.

M'n bitch is heel de dag boos maar deze zomer kom ik dakloos / Chaiba houd me rustig net als Escobar in Narcos / Kan investeren in een hele, elke acht shows / Shout out naar Jiggy, ik ben blij dat ik de Ark koos

Recommended If You Like Thread - April 14, 2018

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 11:05 AM PDT

If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Look through past posts here

ALSO please check out this thread for a list of some of the most popular recommendation requests and the suggestions provided

  • Taking suggestions for next week just DM me!

Introduction: Hello r/hiphopheads, I will be running the best hook thread once a week every Sunday! This will be run very similarly to the Best Verse Threads we had a while ago, as you can see the format is almost identical to the old threads. All you have to do is just post your favorite Pharrell hook with a link to the hook. And if you want to, you can quote the hook word for word in your comment. The comment with the most upvotes will be deemed that artists best hook! And at the end of the year we will decide the best hook of the ones we collected! This is my first time doing anything like this so any recommendations to formatting, anything else helpful would be great!

Biography: The discography of Pharrell Williams, an American recording artist and record producer, consists of two studio albums, two extended plays (EPs), one mixtape, 46 singles (including 38 as a featured artist) and 40 guest appearances. On September 9, 2005, Williams performed the opening single from his first solo album In My Mind, "Can I Have It Like That", featuring Gwen Stefani. The single did poorly in the US, reaching only number 48. It fared better in the UK, reaching number three. Between then and the July 25, 2006 release of "In My Mind", he released "Angel" (in Europe only), and later "Number One" with Kanye West. "That Girl" featuring Snoop Dogg was the final single. In 2013, Williams featured on Daft Punk's fourth studio album Random Access Memories on the songs "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance". In addition, Williams contributed to Azealia Banks' upcoming debut studio album Broke with Expensive Taste, featuring on the song "ATM Jam". Williams penned three new original songs, included alongside composer Heitor Pereira's score, for the sequel Despicable Me 2. These were "Just a Cloud Away", "Happy", and "Scream" (featuring CeeLo Green). His two original songs from the first film were also reprised on the soundtrack - "Despicable Me" and "Fun, Fun, Fun". In March 2013, Williams appeared alongside T.I. on Robin Thicke's hit single "Blurred Lines". The song has been a worldwide hit, has peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and has also reached number one in 13 more countries including the United Kingdom and Germany, making it Williams' third Billboard Hot 100 number one single. On June 29, 2013, he became the 12th artist in the chart's history to simultaneously hold the number one and two positions (with "Blurred Lines" and "Get Lucky", respectively). By July 2013, only 137 singles in UK chart history had achieved one million sales in the UK - that month Williams scored two million-sellers with "Get Lucky" and "Blurred Lines". In November 2013, Williams released the first 24-hour music video to his Despicable Me 2 collaboration song, "Happy". Guest appearances included Magic Johnson, Steve Carell, Jimmy Kimmel, Jamie Foxx, Steve Martin, Odd Future, Miranda Cosgrove, Janelle Monáe, and many others. In December 2013, a press release from Columbia Records announced that Williams had signed a contract with the label and would be releasing an album in 2014, featuring the single "Happy" from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack. "Happy" has since become one of the best-selling singles of all time, having sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.[2] It is also the most downloaded song in the United Kingdom, with over 1.65 million copies sold.[3] On March 4, 2014, Williams released his second studio album Girl, which includes the singles "Happy", "Marilyn Monroe", "Come Get It Bae" and "Gust of Wind"

A$AP Rocky Explains How He's ''Testing Sounds'' On His New Album

Posted: 14 Apr 2018 06:36 AM PDT

'' On the first episode of Peter Rosenberg's new Complex show, Open Late, Rocky was asked how this album compares to his past work when it comes to experimentation and "testing sounds." From the sound of his answer, we'll be getting an album that still has plenty of mainstream appeal, but with some calculated, experimental touches.

"I think with this one, it's more deliberate," he says. "I'm experimenting in a more calculated way. I'm trying to make sure that I take precaution to where I'm not just drawing out of the lines all crazy, mixing my colors. I'm still trying to give you a beautiful canvas, but something different. I want to take a different approach, and I want to challenge the viewer who is tired of hearing the same old shit. You know, this shit is a cliché at this point."

"I'm just trying to test my viewers and listeners and see if they're ready to evolve and grow with me," he adds. "This is going to be an amazing fucking album and I'm going to hopefully change a bunch of people's lives again and hopefully people will make better music and influence me to make even better music." ''
