If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Look through past posts here

ALSO please check out this thread for a list of some of the most popular recommendation requests and the suggestions provided

Young Buck is the only rapper that worked with Soulja Slim, Pimp C, Lord Infamous & Koopsta Knicca while they were alive.

Thinking of how remarkable is the fact that Bone Thugs-n-Harmony are the only ones to have done songs with Eazy-E, Tupac,1 Biggie and Big Pun2 when they were alive, I began wondering if something like that has happened in other genres or industries. But then I realized that even within hip-hop still this was possible... and Young Buck achieved it quite early in his career:

  • Young Buck was the only non-Hypnotize Minds-affiliated to be featured on "M.E.M.P.H.I.S.", a posse song from Three 6 Mafia's When the Smoke Clears. The track would have the group's original lineup if it wasn't for the lack of a Gangsta Boo's verse (and in retrospect it's quite bizarre that 8Ball & MJG weren't on it too).

  • As he and Soulja Slim were briefly members of the group UTP, they shared "You Want It (We Got It)" off of The Compilation album, in 2002.

  • Five years later, when Buck the World was released, Young Buck had Pimp C doing the hook on "4 Kings", a Jazze Pha's production with guest verses of T.I. and Jeezy. The way Pimp sang the hook was him emulating himself on Big Mike's "Havin' Thangs".

  • (In this same album, Young Buck also had "Slow Ya Roll" with Chester Bennington, making him the only rapper ever to have the Linkin Park vocalist as a featured artist).

Juvenile came off pretty close: as previously stated, Soulja Slim was part of his group so obviously they did songs together; he was in "Hypnotize Cash Money" with Juicy J, DJ Paul and Lord Infamous as 'Tear Da Club Up Thugs' and the Hot Boys (including an underage Lil Wayne); and in Scarface's "Pimp Hard" he was there with Pimp C, Z-Ro and Petey Pablo.

On top of that, Buck worked a lot with The Outlawz, so he and Hussein Fatal collaborated a few times before the latter's fatal car accident. He also was in a mixtape song with Nate Dogg on the hook and verses from Snoop Dogg and Lil' Flip.

This may not seem as interesting as the Bone Thug "achievement", perhaps due to the eleven years passed between Soulja Slim's murder and Koopsta Knicca's death, but I believe this is pretty noteworthy.

At some point the South was pretty close knit and guys like Lil Wayne,3 T.I., Bun B, Paul Waul, Ludacris, T-Pain, even Pimp C after getting out of prison - just to list a few, they were not that hard to find at all. Be it on tracks from then up and coming artists or as features in pop songs, they were everywhere.

That was also a particular period in which rappers would release remixes from almost every song they've done featuring a whole lot of people, in some occasions each guest would rap a 16 bars verse.

Hell, it's kinda baffling that Snoop Dogg, an international and almost omnipresent figure that he is and who worked with Soulja Slim during his No Limit days, never had a song with UGK when Pimp C was alive5 or with Three 6 Mafia.

It's unbelievable that under all those circumstances some of those collaborations never happened. The fact that only Young Buck shared songs with these four southern rappers is remarkable too.

Notes:

1 Although Bone Thugs-n-Harmony achieved such thing and developed a bond with Tupac, "Thug Luv" was intended to be a Bizzy Bone solo song featuring Tupac and Sylk-E. Fyne - the verses of the other members were added later on at the discretion of the label, according to Bizzy.

2 Krayzie Bone is the only Bone to have verses in the songs with Eazy-E, Pac and Biggie. Big Pun was on his song, "When I Die", with Fat Joe and Cuban Link. He was featured alongside Bizzy Bone in "Murder on My Mind", a song from Da Mafia 6ix (basically a Juicy J-less version of Three 6 Mafia returning to their horrorcore roots) thus making him also the only one to share a song with Koopsta Knicca (at his finest!).

3 The only song Lil Wayne did with Pimp C was "4 Corners", a track by Lil Bow Wow (!!) sampling part of Pimp's Big Pimpin' verse as the hook, featuring Lil' Scrappy and Short Dawg (who Pimp had called out for having a moniker too close to a Too $hort's nickname). After that, Lil Wayne only appeared on the leaked and scrapped "Let's Talk Money" (which recycled Pimp's verse from G Kamp's "Stack Money", later re-recycled on "What Up"), and "3 Way Freak" from his last posthoumous album, Long Live The Pimp.

4 Don Magic Juan has said that Snoop and Pimp had a project called Friends but that was never released and no one else ever talked about it. He did gave Pimp a "rest n peace" shoutout at the end of "Steal Your Mind", making it the only explicit mention of his death on UGK 4 Life.
