[DISCUSSION] Freddie Gibbs - Str8 Killa No Filla (10 Years Later)

Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:13 AM PDT

Here's what Christian Hoard wrote for Rolling Stone:

Perhaps the most fearsome figure to come out of Gary, Indiana, since Joe Jackson, Freddie Gibbs is a former-freight-train-robber-turned-hardcore-rap-revivalist. He's also poised to become hip-hop's next big thing, having generated serious heat with mixtapes like this 15-track powder keg. Gibbs is a technically gifted MC with a baritone voice and steely flow that suggests a more nimble 50 Cent, and on Str8 Killa he maintains his iron-man mien so thoroughly it's sometimes tough to tell if he's having any fun. But when he jacks the beat to Masta Killa's 'Born 2 Roll' or glides through tongue-twisting rhymes on the Dirty South-style 'In My Hood,' he sounds str8 masterful.

Rappers are dropping like flies. What the hell is going on

Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:31 PM PDT

Juice WRLD. Duck. Bankroll Fresh. Nipsey. X. Pop Smoke. Mac Miller. Lil Peep. Fredo Santana. And countless more. What the actual fuck? I am so sick of this. Most of these dudes were young as hell and their careers were just getting started. Has it always been this bad and I was just too naive in the past to notice? For one, rappers need to use their advance money ASAP to get as far away from the hood as possible. As a signed artist you're a walking target in these communities. And stick to weed for God sakes. There's a reason Snoop Dogg is still kicking and DJ screw is long gone.

Honestly just frustrated
