Hype Thursday: Post songs by artists that haven't gotten more than 50 upvotes on HHH

Posted: 27 Feb 2020 10:11 AM PST

If y'all remember we've done [HYPE WEEK] a bunch of times.

Previous weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. If someone wants to make a Spotify playlist of everything that's been posted so far I can add it to the OP and future OPs.

Rules

Artists qualify if they're never gotten 50 or more upvotes on /r/HipHopHeads (counting features)

Formatting:

Artist - Title

Description: no character minimum but some things that might be good to include: where the rapper is from, what subgenres they might fall into, have cosigns they might have, what their influences are/who they sound like.

Example:

Aaron May - Let Go

17 year old Houston Rapper, biggest influences are J Cole and Nas.

The highest upvoted songs might be collected for a playlist or something.

Heavily recommended: If you post a song, listen to another song and comment on it. Otherwise it doesn't rly work that well.

Grip - He is ... I am

Incredibly talented, conscious rapper from Atlanta who still knows how to make some bangers. His new project, Snubnose, is a must listen for 2019. From Ebro's IG:

Best album you never heard of right here... I don't even know who this is. Shit 🔥🔥🤷🏾‍♂️

Bandhunta Izzy - Bacc N Forth ft. Bandhunta Jugg

Ignorant/hard trap with clear chicago drill influence, great flow and generally high energy.

Baltimore trap rapper who's been active for the later half of this decade, he's been notable in the Baltimore scene for a while but has recently gotten way more attention thanks to his viral How To Rob track based on 50 Cent's song of the same name, altho I think it's just ok compared to most of his output. Also he has a stupid amount of back and forth tracks with various Bmore & DMV rappers which I really like.

More tracks:

WillThaRapper x Bandhunta Izzy - Bandsquad

WillThaRapper x Bandhunta Izzy - How We Livin

Boomin ft. Key Glock

Gang In This Bitch

Look Alive Freestyle

Rumors

Bandhunta Izzy x Young Crazy - Dead Man Can't Type

Bandhunta Izzy Ft. Blue Benjamin Sleepy - BBB

Abhi The Nomad

I do my best to be aware of and support brown music acts and Abhi is so ridiculously talented that he's blown up with a niche fanbase yet he's still hard underrated on this sub. He blends rapping with a very indie rock sound (especially on Marbled, his second album), and he also produces everything himself which is crazy to think about when you hear the diverse sounds he has in his discography. I might not be able to see him on his upcoming tour but I did go last year and he absolutely killed it (along with Harrison Sands, another super cool collaborator with an amazing voice). Super nice to talk to after the show as well.

Check out: his whole discography (Modern Trash is his most recent album), but in particular:

Me No Evil

BTFL

Headcase

House of Clocks ft. Harrison Sands

Marbled

Speaking of brown artists...

Rajan

Indian-Canadian artist Rajan, in so many ways, is reminicent of a young Take Care/So Far Gone era Drake. The smooth R&B mixed with braggadocious rapping is addicting and I constantly find myself hitting repeat on songs like The Drama and Pick a Side. Much more lowkey than Abhi at the moment (several millions of streams less) but he's definitely got the potential to do something interesting.

Check Out:

Moments

The Drama

Pick a Side

Gang

Diamonds

JARV - The Concoction

Vermont rapper who gained a small following after participating to RA The Rugged Man's competition Definition of a rap flow. His music is generally comedic and entertaining. He was influenced by those artists Slug, Q-Tip, Slick Rick, Del The Funky Homosapien, Eyedea, RA The Rugged Man, Tom Waits, Aesop Rock, and Prof
