If you're looking for a recommendation give a description/music link/artist so that other people will know what you want.

Example: I want to hear an artist that sounds like old Kanye (you can get more specific but that's enough imo). And then someone will respond with X, Y, and Z

You can also recommend an artist/project/scene

Example: You guys should check out DJ Mustard's mixtape Ketchup RIYL (recommended if you like) post-hyphy and minimalistic west coast beats.

Remember, the point of this thread is to share music, try not to post stuff that's already really popular unless it answers someone's question.

Also the more descriptive you guys are with your posts the easier it is to help you find what you want, just stating an artists name isn't that helpful since you might only like one specific aspect of that artist's music.

Look through past posts here

ALSO please check out this thread for a list of some of the most popular recommendation requests and the suggestions provided

Smoke Dawg shot and killed

Posted: 30 Jun 2018 06:19 PM PDT

Word is Toronto rapper; Smoke Dawg was shot and killed in this incident.

I'll update this when I have more information.

Although he wasn't my favourite rapper by any means its upsetting to see this bullshit happening in my city more and more.

Edit: I figured I'd link to some of his tracks for those that didn't know of him.

Have you ever considered how important a role Joe Budden has played for the new generation of hip hop? Here's why...

Posted: 30 Jun 2018 10:18 PM PDT

Joe budden played an important part as the bridge between the old generation and new generation of hip hop.

He was/is a monumental figure of progression during the phase of "old heads" trying desperatly to understand appeal of the uzis, yachtys and pumps that were getting the spotlight. As negative as he always sounded I do believe he was just trying to get to the bottom of why these kids were getting so big and why the lyrical hiphop he knows and loves is declining.

Hiphop, in its new generation, needed an angry, shouting rapper from the old generation to demand answers and give the kids a chance to prove themselves. I am 100% certain he has came around to a lot of new artists and probably bumps their shit lowkey, same with people watching in his same age group.

I respect joe for acting as the bridge and basically investigating the youth and their take on music, even if he didn't realise at the time that was the part he was playing.

I'm not even a massive fan of joe but it's 6am rn and I just randomly had this thought lol.
