Here is the song in question, American Pharaoh by Jase Harley: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whcr-JiOJCA&feature=youtu.be

Obviously, here is This Is America: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYOjWnS4cMY

Jase Harley has commented on the matter himself, no animosity. Just wishes he could've gotten a shoutout:

"lol word a shout out would be cool 🤷🏾‍♂️ all good tho.. he's a great artist, dope I could've had some influence on the record"

"I always felt my song inspired it lol from the first time I heard it"

"yeaaa lol it's cool tho.. glad they liked my song. It's all love"

https://i.imgur.com/f3YeQMp.png

"all artist get inspired by others.. artists being thirsty for bread is why ppl don't wanna credit anyone for inspiration. It's all love and support from me, glad if my record influenced his 🙏🏾"

Thanks to u/sPLATTYYY for posting the Instagram comments.

The instrumental is quite similar and the subject matter, inflection, and flow is uncannily similar.

Thoughts?

Would You Use a Social Media Network For Music?

Posted: 24 Jun 2018 10:00 PM PDT

Hey everyone, I'm working on building a new social media website and app for music and wanted to get your opinion on if this would be something you would use. This would be something for discovering music, discussing music, and sharing music.

You'll have your own profile where you can list your favourite albums/artists/songs, as well as post anything for those who follow you to see. You can connect your profile to your streaming service (Spotify/Apple/Tidal/Etc.) and you can easily share what you are listening to from your service to your profile. You can curate playlists, post them on your profile, and easily share music with your friends.

You can follow genres you like, and your home page feed would give you relevant news, articles, posts by other users, etc., and then you can comment and engage in discussion. You can also create discussion threads and engage in conversation with others.

You can also rate songs/albums out of 10 and post reviews as well. From the genres you subscribe to, the favourite music you list, what music you listen to on your streaming service, and the ratings you give to music, the system would know what type of music you enjoy and which artists you like listening to. With this, it would feed you the most relevant information for you to enjoy.

Would anyone be interested in this? Open to any feedback or ideas as well. Thanks!

Best Hook, Week 17 - Rae Sremmurd

Posted: 24 Jun 2018 02:06 PM PDT

Note: This can be either of there solo work or features. For the few hooks Jxmmi has.

You're never too late to comment! Remember this thread is on contest mode for the first 12 hours!

  • Before you comment please CTRL+F to see if your song has been said, if it has been said your comment will be deleted!

  • If you see duplicate comments, report the newer one so mods will delete it!

  • Please provide links with your votes!

  • Remember just because a hook may be iconic that does necessarily mean it's their best hook.

  • Make sure you don't post the same hook as someone else!

  • Voting for best hook will close 12 hours from the time this was posted

  • Taking suggestions for next week just DM me!

  • This could also be any feature that he does

  • The artist has to rap/sing the hook and it can't be a feature doing it, for example Gucci Mane's Lemonade like last week.

Introduction: Hello r/hiphopheads, I will be running the best hook thread once a week every Sunday! This will be run very similarly to the Best Verse Threads we had a while ago, as you can see the format is almost identical to the old threads. All you have to do is just post your favorite Rae Sremmurd hook with a link to the hook. And if you want to, you can quote the hook word for word in your comment. The comment with the most upvotes will be deemed that artists best hook! And at the end of the year we will decide the best hook of the ones we collected! This is my first time doing anything like this so any recommendations to formatting, anything else helpful would be great!

Biography: American hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd has released three studio albums, three mixtapes, thirteen singles (including three as a featured artist), and 24 music videos. Rae Sremmurd signed to EarDrummers Entertainment in 2013 and released their debut studio album, SremmLife, on January 6, 2015. The album charted at number five on the US Billboard 200. It features the triple platinum single "No Type" and also includes the platinum singles "No Flex Zone", "Throw Sum Mo", "This Could Be Us" and "Come Get Her". Rae Sremmurd collaborated with American rapper Ty Dolla Sign and Future on platinum single "Blasé", which peaked at number 66 in the US. In 2016, they released their second studio album, SremmLife 2. The album peaked at number four in the US. It features the number-one single "Black Beatles", which peaked in the top ten of many charts worldwide. SremmLife 2 also includes the platinum hits "Look Alive" and "Swang".
