Playboi Carti (commonly referred to as Self Titled) is the eponymous debut mixtape by American rapper Playboi Carti. It was released on April 14, 2017, by AWGE Label and Interscope Records. The mixtape features production from Pi'erre Bourne, Southside and others, and guest appearances from American rappers Lil Uzi Vert, ASAP Rocky, and Dutch singer Leven Kali. The physical version of the mixtape was released on October 6, 2017, and a vinyl edition was released on November 17, 2017.

The mixtape was supported by three singles – "Lookin", "Wokeuplikethis", and "Magnolia", the third peaking at number 29 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was Carti's highest-charting single at the time.

Q: Why is Gunna #2? I remember reading he beat the Weeknd?

A: Gunna won the more coveted Billboard 200 #1. When people say that an album went #1, they're referring to the Billboard 200. The Billboard 200 doesn't release actual sales numbers for most releases like HDD does. HDD and Billboard 200 are both industry standards. HDD gave Gunna 2k more sales and the Weeknd 6k more sales, so the Weeknd ended up outselling Gunna for HDD's chart. We aren't going to switch to using the Billboard 200 just for the two top results. HDD is better for comparing across weeks because they give more sales information.

On this day 5 years ago, Kendrick Lamar dropped the follow-up to the critically acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly, just one year after dropping the unreleased compilation of untitled unmastered. To this date, this is the latest full-length LP that we've received from him, other than later contributions in producing The Black Panther soundtrack.

This project was preceded by the surprise release of The Heart Part IV, which teased an original release date of April 7th for everyone to get their shit together, which later got pushed back a week later. Before that, we also received HUMBLE as the lead single, and to date has now become his most successful single of all time. The full LP was lauded upon release, eventually becoming the first non-jazz or classical piece of music to win a Pulitzer Prize.
