What got you into Hip-hop?

Posted: 10 Aug 2021 10:33 PM PDT

My story is simple, bullied lonely kid from the suburbs of south Florida, all the "cool kids" that picked on me liked rap, so I figured if I acted more like them they would bully me less. I traded in my Jean shorts for basketball shorts, and my sketchers for jays, looked up "rappers" on google, Started with Eminem bumped him all through middle school, by HS I was on Nas, Jay-z, Tech n9ne, and most importantly Biggie. To this day he is like a hero to me, after HS I got into pharcyde, tribe called quest, logic, Hopsin, MF Doom, and most recently open mike eagle. even tho I don't rock jays anymore but I am all about this, I can even write a half decent bar, and my freestyles are passable.

To quote Eminem "I turned to rap because it made me feel tough when I wasn't"

So that's my story how about yours?

[DISCUSSION] Gucci Mane & Waka Flocka Flame - Ferrari Boyz (10 Years Later)

Posted: 09 Aug 2021 09:26 AM PDT

Ferrari Boyz is a collaborative studio album by American rappers Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame. Originally scheduled for a June 21, 2011, release, it was delayed and later released on August 9. It features Rocko, 2 Chainz, 1017 Brick Squad labelmates Wooh da Kid, and Frenchie, and also Brick Squad Monopoly members Slim Dunkin (now deceased), Ice Burgundy, and YG Hootie. The album was mostly produced by label producer Southside, with additional production by 808 Mafia, Drumma Boy, Fatboi, Shawty Redd, and Schife. According to Waka Flocka, the album was completed in "1–2 weeks."

Pitchfork Review

This is the first full-length collaboration between the rappers, whose styles are almost completely opposite. If Gucci painted pictures, Waka looks at a blank canvas and dumps a can of red paint on it. Then maybe breaks it over his knee.

Tracklist:
1. Ferrari Boyz (Prod. by Drumma Boy)
2. 15th And The 1st featuring YG Hootie (Prod. by Southside)
3. Break Her (Prod. by Schife)
4. Feed Me feat. Frenchie (Prod. by Southside)
5. Mud Musik feat. Titi Boy aka 2 Chains (Prod. by Southside)
6. In My Business feat. Rocko (Prod. by Shawty Redd)
7. Young Niggas (Prod. by Southside)
8. Suicide Homicide feat. Wooh Da Kid (Prod. by JSouthside)
9. I Don't See U feat. Ice Burgandy (Prod. by Southside)
10. PacMan (Prod. by Southside)
11. Stoned (Prod. by Shawty Redd)
12. She Be Puttin' On feat. Slim Dunkin (Prod. by Southside)
13. So Many Things (Prod. by Fatboi)
14. Too Loyal feat. Slim Dunkin (Prod. by Fatboi)
15. What The Hell feat. Rocko (Prod. by Drumma Boy)

Some discussion questions:
- Where do you rank this in their discographies?
- Do you feel this lived up to its potential?
- How has it aged?
- Favorite tracks and features?

Kodak Black disses his Sniper Gang roster, throws $100k into ocean, accuses signee Jackboy of owing him money after Jackboy announced his new album coming on 8/27

Posted: 08 Aug 2021 12:20 PM PDT

Aug 3rd story in HHDX

Kodak Black and Jackboy's relationship turned sour in June when the Sniper Gang boss dissed his entire label and retaliated by throwing $100,000 into the ocean, as well as stuffing $100 bills down the toilet. Little over a month later, the pair still haven't got to the bottom of their issues.

The "ZEZE" rapper took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday morning (August 3) to claim Jackboy owes him money and is threatening to file a lawsuit in order for him to pay up. Kodak Black's post arrived just hours after Jackboy announced his new album is set to drop on August 27.

"I Still Ain't Get My Money From This Ungrateful Lil Bitch Yet," he wrote in the since-deleted post. "& What's Krazy A N-gga Ain't Even TRYING 2 Make These People Send Dat , No Kinda Effort To , But If I File This Lawsuit Or Sumn Ima B Green."

No Jumper screenshots:

Took Long Enouugh But Dat Businezz Must B Stood On

The official Sniper Gang website lists, C Clip Beatz, Mr. Flipper, Jackboy, John Wick and Petho Burr as its active artists but it was Jackboy, the most visible member who came through with a response; first by using Kevin Gates' song "Vouch" as a cover and then directly on his IG account.

"Don't ask me no questions, just chill and vibe," Jackboy laughed to his Instagram Live followers who had obviously tuned in to drink his tea. "I ain't answering shit. I ain't got shit bad to say about people. You ain't gon' get that from me. You ain't gon' have no video of me on YouTube [mimicks loose lips]."

He continued, "That's my brother at the end of the day," Jackboy continued. "Hey, see your number, unblock me off Instagram, see your number, and I can holla at you. All that other shit? Everybody know like, as far as 'day ones,' Jackboy's a real ass n*gga. So, I'm not gonna go in detail or explain shit to nobody. I don't care. I do not care about Instagram that much I never wanted to be a rapper in my life. I started rapping probably like, three years ago, four years ago.

"This shit don't mean that much to me. I made millions off this shit! I already won. I bought my mom a house. I won. I bought my mom a car, paid off, I won. All my cars, I got three cars, paid off. I won. Like, I'm not gonna come on here and talk bad about my brother."

It was then, in his passionate response of pleading the fifth did Jackboy finally direct some energy towards his once close friend.

"One on one I'm gonna tell you, 'Ay, boy, you lame as fuck!' but to [the audience], I don't care if the sky is green in this muthafucka — the sky is green!" Jackboy exclaimed before offering a final subtle warning.

"But one on one, "Ay boy, you know the sky is blue — boy stop playing like that."

Jackboy IG Live

An undeterred Kodak Black went to his Instagram later in the evening to toss a reported $100,000 in the ocean while mumbling to himself in a soundless video.

Kodak throwing 100k into the ocean

"I Broke You Off When Dem Fuck Niggas Wouldn't Give You A Dime !!!" he captioned his video. "I Ain't Owe You Shit Nigga I Just Wanted To See You Shine !!! Yeen Never Gave Me Shit Nigga I Had My Own Grind !!!!

An adjacent Instagram post shows the Haitian Boy Kodak rapper holding a purported $230,000 while sounding off about betrayal and heartbreak.

"I Was Too Busy Showin Love I Ain't See Da Signs , When You Needed Me Pussy I Came Thru Everytime , Whether You Was Right Or Wrong Fuck Nigga I Was Riding …. But You Envied Me Nigga In Da Back Of Yo Mind."

[deleted ig post]

Sniper Gang as a staff, record label and rap crew released a compilation titled Bapitized In Blood in 2017 with a contributing feature from PnB Rock.

Kodak posts:

Fuck a Friendship, I'm ON Bizness !"

I Ain't Signing Rappers No More, These Niggas Ungrateful

Ain't Nobody keeping nothing cry laugh I need mine, what's the problem?

Ayo cry laughing emoji I'm ain't tryna internet bang with nobody i started this shit so i need my money for letting niggas eat off MY FACE... THATS IT kiss emoji other than that, i love everybody!! have a blessed day

[DISCUSSION] Lil Keed - Trapped On Cleveland 3 (1 Year Later)

Posted: 08 Aug 2021 08:58 AM PDT

It's been 1 year since Lil Keed's hyped up TOC3 has dropped. How has it grown since then and what are some of yous favorite tracks? I think the deluxe album that came out a month or so after the album was stellar, but not counting the deluxe my favorite songs are Trippin, Kiss Em Peace, She Know, and Zaza. Also happy about the Wavy remix with Travis Scott. What are your thoughts on the album after 1 year?
