[DISCUSSION] Chiddy Bang - Peanut Butter & Swelly (10 Years Later)

Posted: 02 Jun 2021 02:06 PM PDT

Peanut Butter and Swelly is a mixtape by the Philadelphia hip hop music duo Chiddy Bang. It was released in May 2011 as a prequel to their debut album Breakfast. The third mixtape released by the group, it consists of 15 tracks featuring several other rappers including Mac Miller, Casey Veggies and Trae Tha Truth. The mixtape contains many references to the Guinness World Record for longest freestyle rap set by the group's rapper Chidera Anamege.

  1. Cameras
  2. The Whistle Song
  3. Heatwave (feat. Mac Miller, Casey Veggies & Trae The Truth)
  4. Too Much Soul
  5. Baby Roulette (feat. Train)
  6. Guinness Flow
  7. I Can't Stop (Freestyle)
  8. Jacuzzi (Lost in the Vapors)
  9. High as a Ceiling (feat. eLDee The Don)
  10. Always (On My Grizzly) (feat. eLDee The Don)

  13. Nobody Has It Down
  14. All Over (feat. Gordon Voidwell)
  15. When You've Got Music (feat. The Knocks)

SoundCloud

Mixtape Monkey

very aggresive P4k pan

Chiddy Bang toed the line between the blog scene and the frat rap scene. They frequently sampled indie music, on this tape it was Grizzley Bear, Morissey, and The Knocks. Their sound was certainly an influence on a future wave of rappers who were driven by internet hype and blogs that were more well respected.

If this is your first time hearing this, what do you think?

If not, how has this tape aged for you?

Hype Tuesday: Post songs by artists that haven't gotten more than 50 upvotes on HHH - June 01, 2021

Posted: 01 Jun 2021 07:30 AM PDT

Rules

Artists qualify if they're never gotten 50 or more upvotes on /r/HipHopHeads (counting features)

Formatting:

>Artist - Title

>Description: no character minimum but some things that might be good to include: where the rapper is from, what subgenres they might fall into, have cosigns they might have, what their influences are, who they sound like.

Example:

>Aaron May - Let Go

>18 year old Houston Rapper, biggest influences are J Cole and Nas.

Heavily recommended: If you post a song, listen to another song and comment on it. Otherwise this thing doesn't really work that well.

Feel free to add any feedback on what could make these threads better.
