[DISCUSSION] Quantifying who should be on the 2020 XXL Freshman List Posted: 08 Mar 2020 02:01 PM PDT The XXL Freshman list is always a big point of discussion on this sub and in general in hip hop. Even before the start of this year people were listing their picks. I decided to take it a step further and use numbers to project who will make the list. I looked at five factors: Google Trends (over the past 6 months), Spotify streams (monthly listeners), Youtube views (top 5 tracks), Instagram followers, and Billboard Hot 100 hits. With Billboard I made up a simple formula calles BP. Essentially BP rewards those who have more charting and higher charting tracks. I measured these factors for a multitude of young up and comers including $tupid Young, 070 Shake, 1takejay, 24kGoldn, 645AR, ABG Neal, Aitch, Ambjaay, Ameer Vann, anders, Anik Khan, Aries, Asian Doll, AUDREY NUNA, Baby Keem, Ball Greezy, Bankrol Hayden, Bas, BbyMutha, Benny The Butcher, BigKlit, Bigticket1k, Boogie, Booggz, Boslen, Calboy, Chinese Kitty, Clever, Conway the Machine, cupcakKe, Dave, Dee Watkins, Doja Cat, Don Toliver, D Smoke, Duke Deuce, Ecco2k, FBG Duck, Felly, Fijimacintosh, Fivio Foreign, Flipp Dinero, GNAR, Guapdad 4000, Headie One, Houdini, TheHxliday, iann dior, Icy Narco, ilham, Jack Harlow, Jay Critch, JayDaYoungan, Joey Trap, JPEGMAFIA, JUMEX, Justin Rarri, Kash Doll, Key Glock, The Kid LAROI, KILLY, Kota the Friend, Lil Berete, Lil Gotit, Lil Keed, Lil Loaded, Lil Muk, Lil Nas X, Lil Tecca, Lil Tjay, Lil Tracy, Lil Wop, Lil Zay Osama, Little Simz, Lou The Human, LUCKI, Mach-Hommy, MANNY SANCHEZ, MAVI, Maxo, Melii, Melvoni, Mez, MIST, Moneybagg Yo, Money Man, Mulatto, NLE Choppa, NoCap, OHGEESY, Oliver Francis, OMB Peezy, Pardison Fontaine, Polo G, Pressa, Princess Nokia, Quadeca, Quando Rondo, REASON, Rich Brian, Rich Dunk, Rioo Cheeny, Rod Wave, Sada Baby, SahBabii, SAINt JHN, Saweetie, Scarlxrd, Sheck Wes, Slauson Malone, Sleepy Hallow, slowthai, Smooky MarGielaa, Smoove'L, Stunna 4 Vegas, Sueco the Child, Tadoe, Teejay3k, Teejayx6, TisaKorean, TOKYO'S REVENGE, Tommy Genesis, Valee, Warhol.SS, Westside Gunn, Wynne, YBN Almighty Jay, Yella Beezy, YNW BSlime, Young Nudy, Young Roc, YSN Flow, Yugen Blakrok, Yung Bans, Yung Bleu, Yungeen Ace, Yung Gravy, Yung LiV, Yung Pinch, Yung Tory, ZillaKami The results were as follows Google Trends
Spotify
Youtube
Billboard
Final Rankings
2020 XXL Freshman ListDoja Cat Lil Nas X Lil Tecca Lil Tjay Moneybagg Yo NLE Choppa Polo G Saweetie Sheck Wes Yella Beezy If any of the above artists decline their spots (Lil Nas X is probably the most likely to do so) or are not offered a spot due to accusations (Sheck Wes), Rod Wave, Kash Doll, Don Toliver, and Rich Brian are all viable replacements. If XXL chooses another more traditional rap representative, D Smoke and Dave are both good choices. YNW Melly (who would have finished highly in every category) could be given a spot as an honorary freshman, like Chief Keef was, since he's in jail (I doubt it based on his charges). Pop Smoke could be given an honorary spot as well. [link] [comments] |

[FRESH] Iggy Pop Cosigned rapper Paris Williams releases debut album 'DROP DEAD GORGEOUS' Posted: 08 Mar 2020 09:12 AM PDT Paris Williams is a Rapper/Producer out of a small town called Muskegon, MI. I am directly involved with him but I didn't work on this project whatsoever. Just trying to support one of my closest friends. STREAM! 'GORGEOUS' is a project that feels fleshed out but doesn't over stay It's welcome. He produced most of himself, the only beat he didn't touch is track 2. If you're a fan of artists like Tyler, Earl Sweatshirt, Kevin Abstract, or Injury Reserve, I feel like this would be a perfect fit for any of your playlists. It details the journey of him getting kicked out and moving to try to chase his dreams. Imagine the album as an indie coming of age movie. Some back story on the title -> After releasing an EP in 2018 called "DELAY" and naming a song after Iggy of the stooges we caught his attention because we have the same birthplace. That lead to us getting played on BBC1 radio. If you have any questions make sure to hit me up! [link] [comments] |
