"25 years ago, Scatman John released his worldwide hit 20 years ago, he passed away, leaving the world his legacy On June 14th, the world will yet again hear his scatting More to be revealed...." the post says.

For those that don't know, Scatman John died in 1999 from lung cancer. He made pop/dance music with scat singing. He had long struggled with stuttering and said that scat singing helped him get the confidence to deal with his stuttering. A lot of his lyrics talk about this.

His most popular song that you've probably heard is Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop).

Sorry if this is the wrong subreddit but his music is in a rapping style tbf and there isn't really anywhere else to share this news.

I am hiphop and soul journalist Mats Nileskär. Spacerider and time traveler in the name of hiphop and politics. Or as Jay Z said, the dopest music journalist ever.

For over 40 years I've been interviewing both legendary and up-and-coming soul and hiphop artists around the globe for Swedish national radio channel P3. Started in 1978 and originally called 'Soul Corner', my program 'P3 Soul' airs every Sunday night.

We tweeted our intentions to begin developing a doc on Mac over the next year. At the same time, we reached out to all those closest to him to begin the process of making it official.

We immediately *complied as the last thing we'd want is to negatively impact anyone involved, quite the opposite.
