I feel like there was a run in maybe 07 when everyone was hopping on these massive remixes (like 5 people on it at least) for songs that were already hella big, and I wanted to check in to see what you all thought was the best star-studded remix? One of my favorites of all time is Top Back (Remix). " Nah this ain't a movie but I shot 4 brothers." Takes me back to wearing skull hoodies in high school lmao.

[DISCUSSION] Mos Def – True Magic (15 Years Later)

Mos Def dropped 15 years ago what is widely regarded as his worst album. The lack of consistent quality on this album is really apparent and best explained as an uninspired project to end his deal with Geffen Records. The albums most obvious weak points are the off-the-shelf 2002 Funk Flex mixtape beats. That mixtape feeling is also carried with his freestyles over other rappers beats (Juvenile's Noila Clap and GA's Liquid Swords).

On the flipside, it got a few gems, that make digging into the album worthwile. U R the One is a great love song. Tracks like Perfect Timing and Murder of a Teenage Life got a unique atmosphere, the latter over a haunting Neptunes beat. Fans of Mos Def's singing style get their share of joy with the more experimental There Is A Way and Sun Moon Stars and the UMI Says style Lifetime.
