Rules

Artists qualify if they're never gotten 50 or more upvotes on /r/HipHopHeads (counting features)

Formatting:

Artist - Title

Description: no character minimum but some things that might be good to include: where the rapper is from, what subgenres they might fall into, have cosigns they might have, what their influences are/who they sound like.

Example:

Aaron May - Let Go

17 year old Houston Rapper, biggest influences are J Cole and Nas.

Best Of Last Week

Lil West - Hot Sauce

Dude's got a knack for making catchy ass melodies and his last project was produced by Take A Daytrip

BLACKSTARKIDS - LOVE, STARGIRL

a three piece band from Kansas City Missouri who make a blend of rap, dream pop and indie rock. They recently released their second album SURF

Myke Bogan - Aye Aye

Metal Wings by Kenny Mason

You may know Kenny Mason from his song "HIT." I think this song is equally as good as that single and honestly, this sounds like a mix of Denzel Curry and Lil Tracy, oddly enough. P&P just did an article yesterday on how he's next to blow too (Jazz Cartier). He's a 22-year old Atlanta rapper influenced by Lil Wayne, The Pixies and Smashing Pumpkins.

Mistakes by AMEN DENIRO

Admittedly, I haven't really gotten into AMEN DENIRO beyond this song, but this was one of my favorite R&B tracks of 2018, and has gotten stuck in my head a lot. All I know is he's a Quebec native, not sure about his influences or age.

Shea Butter by Pardison Fontaine

Does this count? He's been in a post with well over 50 votes, but it was on a leak from Yandhi featuring A$AP Rocky, and not an official song. Weirdly enough, he has two Billboard Top 40 song credits, one with a Cardi B feature, and he wrote Violent Crimes for Kanye. If you like DaBaby, you'll probably like him. Also that ODB sample on this song makes this one of the biggest earworm bangers I've heard in a while.

FALL IN LOVE by JUMEX

I know a lot of people hate JUMEX, whether that be from the industry plant label or just how he seems so unaware of his public image, but speaking only on the music, I think this song is fantastic. This is one of the best songs to come out of the emo-trap wave, period, and rivals songs like Robbery or XO TOUR Llif3. If this had the right push, I think it'd be viral.

THAt SiNkiNg feeliNg... by Hadji Gaviota ft. Ivy Sole

The title of this song is kind of atrocious, but was also the reason I checked this out, and man I was shocked to see this song had as little views as it does. This is an incredible pop and R&B hybrid song, with a Noname/Tierra Whack/Rapsody-esque feature towards the backend. This song absolutely deserves more credit than it's getting.

old me by fats'e ft. shinigami, 93FEETOFSMOKE

Kind of surprised to see shinigami and 93FEETOFSMOKE not having a song over 50 votes on this sub, but I think it's just because it's not the most traditional form of hip-hop. This is one of the most fun and catchiest emo-trap songs I've heard in a while. Pretty sure 93FEETOFSMOKE's verse even pulls a cadence from 100 Gecs' song bloodstains, which isn't that unlikely, considering Shinigami remixed "hand crushed by a mallet" by them.

Too Much Love by Animist

This is actually one of my friends, who is based out of Oklahoma and influenced by artists like Earl Sweatshirt, sLUms and milo, so it's not a typical case of "this is my friend who makes music." I think he definitely deserves some traction and for this being one of his first songs, it's a pretty solid start.

Kiss My Own Dick by David Shawty ft. Yungster Jack

This is definitely the weirdest songs I've heard this year, and one of my favorite songs of the year. If you could imagine a song with the lyrical content of a Lil B or Teejayx6 track combined with the musical style of 100 Gecs/PC Music, mixed with Drain Gang and a modernized version of Blood On The Dance Floor, this is the beautiful mess that came from all of those ideas.

Abhi the Nomad

Mama Bling

Sex n Drugs

Heavily recommended: If you post a song, listen to another song and comment on it. Otherwise it doesn't rly work that well.

Apple Music Description

Ever since The Weeknd emerged in 2011 with the mysterious and mesmerizing House of Balloons, the Toronto native has kept us on our toes: There was a trio of druggy, lo-fi R&B mixtapes, the Top 40 cake-topper "Can't Feel My Face," and the glossy, Daft Punk-assisted rebirth that came with 2016's Starboy. On After Hours, his fourth studio album, the singer returns to early-era Abel Tesfaye—the fragile falsetto, the smoky atmospheres, the whispered confessions. But here, they're bolstered by some seriously brilliant beatmaking: muted, shuffling drum 'n' bass ("Hardest to Love"), whistling sirens and staccato trap textures ("Escape From LA"), and flickers of French touch, warped dubstep, and Chicago drill that have been stretched and bent into abstractions. It's as if Tesfaye spent the past four years scouring underground warehouse parties for rhythms that could make his low-lit R&B balladry feel hedonistic, thrilling, and alive. When the album does lift into moments of brightness, they're downright radiant: "Scared to Live" is sweeping and sentimental, fit for the final scene in a romantic comedy, and "Blinding Lights"—a Max Martin-produced megahit boosted by a Mercedes-Benz commercial—is about as glitzy, glamorous, and gloriously '80s as it gets.
