Kanye posts Instagram videos addressing Nick Cannon, Drake Posted: 20 Sep 2018 10:01 AM PDT Video 1: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9JkSXnTS7/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igshid=1erfc3td4mq0z Says he's out the "sunken place" now, tells Nick Cannon never to mention his wife in an interview. Begins to address Drake but the video cuts off. Video 2: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9KMuVn5oc/?taken-by=kanyewest He says he was in a medicated state and didn't think to tell Pusha not to diss him. Kanye says that Drake not addressing and shooting down the rumors about him fucking Kim Kardashian doesn't sit well with his spirit. Also says that In My Feelings could be misconstrued to be about Kim, and that Drake knows better than to release it. Says Drake had a song saying "We got some Kylies, we got some Kendalls"—referring to this song—and that Kanye told him not to release the song. Video 3: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9KndWnmCS/?taken-by=kanyewest Continues about the song, and that he hit up Travis to make sure his XTCY song was cool with him. Then tells Drake not to mention anyone in his family. Also mentions Tyson Beckford. Tells nobody to speak on his wife and that people are promoting negativity - and tells the three of them to come to him and resolve the issues like men. Video 4: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9K3qVHKv7/?taken-by=kanyewest Finishes by saying none of it sits right with him and those three don't get on the phone, so he had to address it on Instagram. He also tweeted all of the links to the videos: https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1042823169738862593 Thanks to /u/Ars2012 for the song link [link] [comments] |

WAVES. A comprehensive Lupe Fiasco guide. Posted: 20 Sep 2018 11:51 AM PDT Lupe Fiasco is probably my favorite rapper period, I've seen a lot of people intrigued by him since Drogas Wave has been announced and i'm here to shed some light about who he is, his career and the build-up to this longly awaited album. I. Early career : Farenheit 1/15 Trilogy.Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, also known as Lupe Fiasco is a Chicago rapper born in 1982, his first introduction to the public was through his Farenheit 1/15 mixtapes, the first one is him rapping over famous beats like Jesus Walks or Nas's Thief's Theme, the two other are made with more original production. Lupe came in the game is a kinda nerdy, witty rapper with a style similar to that of Jay-Z, those mixtapes are way more gritty and gangsta than his current music, and has a lot more samples in it. I'd recommend listening to all 3, the 3rd one might be my favorite, his flow is impeccable and the instrumentals are really Pharrell-esque, the verse in Heat Under The Babyseat has been re-used as the intro for Little Weapon.
II. First two albums, the rise to fame and critical acclaim.Lupe signed to Arista Records, which he dropped from quickly after its C.E.O. got fired. During that short time, Lupe met Jay-Z which saw him as a breath of fresh air and helped him get a record deal with Atlantic. Lupe's breakout performance is his awesome feature verse on Kanye's single Touch The Sky from his album Late Registration in 2005, this verse helped put his name out before his first album. On September 19th, 2006, Lupe's first album, Food & Liquor, came out. This album features production credit from The Neptunes, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda. This album received high critical acclaim from critics, and the album was nominated for the Grammy Awards, it sold more than 80,000 copies on its first week. There is another version of Food and Liquor that leaked, another user made a great post about it so let me plug it there for further information, some news songs on here This is probably my favorite Lupe album to this day. I can't recommend it enough, and I humbly consider Hurt Me Soul to be one of the best tracks in Hip-Hop period.
In 2007, Lupe, Pharrell and Kanye form the group Child Rebel Soldier, they only got a few singles and no full album, US Placers is a pretty nice song though Only a year and a couple of months after that, Lupe drops his second album, The Cool, this time with production made mostly by Soundtrakk, who produced Kick Push, Lupe's biggest song from his last album. This album got features from Snoop Dogg and Pooh Bear as the only renowned names on here, Lupe decided to keep it local by having features from Chicago singers Matthew Santos and Gemstones Another critically acclaimed album for Lupe, with media like The New York Times calling it "One of the best hip-hop albums of the year" and selling more than 140,000 copies on the first week. His single with Matthew Santos, Superstar, went top 5 in the single charts. This album is arguably considered to be Lupe's best album by a lot of people. It's a lot darker and grittier than Food & Liquor, with songs like Put You On Game. The lyrical content is probably peak Lupe, with amazing story telling and concepts. Hip-Hop Saved My Life is another track that i'd consider being one of the best tracks in Hip-Hop. III. Issues with Atlantic, scrapped albums and mixed reviews. This is the part that most people seem to be unaware about and people are always really surprised that Lupe is getting praised as one of the greatest rappers if he has those next two albums on his discography. At the end of The Cool album, you can hear Lupe say that he will come back with an album soon call LupEND. Atlantic prevented him from doing so, and he postponed the album indefinitely. He also wanted to drop an album in 09 called The Great American Rap Album but Atlantic prevented him again. Between 09 and 2014, Lupe dropped 3 mixtapes, called Enemy of The State, Friend of the people, Lost in the atlantic. He also dropped a studio album with his rock band Japanese Cartoon called In the Jaws of the Lords of Death Lupe Fiasco dropped Lasers in March 2011 and it's a turning point in his career. This album got mixed reviews and for a good reason : It's a huge mess and any Lupe fan would agree on that. The songs are poppy and poorly produced, the features like Trey Songz doesn't match the energy at all and the lyricism is really poor for Lupe's standards. Lupe said in an interview that he has an original Lasers album that got scrapped, Lupe said countless time that he just felt like he had to let go of his ambition because Atlantic was turning down his idea left and right, he even had to make an online petition for the album to come out because of it. Songs like Airplanes, yes, B.O.B.'s biggest hit, was removed from the original album because Atlantic felt like they were weak, even though they sound better than most of the Lasers album. I wouldn't recommend Lasers at all, it just has "Lupe got screwed" written all over it and it's simply not a good showcase of Lupe's talent. Words I Never Said and The Show Goes On are great poppy-rap tracks but that's about it, most of it is just not that good. The same thing happened with Lupe's next time, called Food & Liquor 2 : The Great American Rap Album Pt.1, this album is a lot better but it shares the same flaws that Lasers suffered from. Songs like ITAL and Bitch Bad are pretty great but I could do without most of them. Pt.2 of the album got scrapped and was supposed to be a lot closer to his first two albums, with Atomic Misphilosophy being supposed to on here which is a great song. IV. Tetsuo & Youth, Drogas Light and the Drogas project. After years of struggling against Atlantic, they finally let Lupe have more freedom of range, and on January 20th, 2015, Tetsuo & Youth came out. Lupe took this freedom to diss his own label on Dots and Lines, singing "Don't sign/sine" on the hook. This album is Lupe's third masterpiece in my opinion, Blur My Hands and No Scratches being the only tracks that are relatively weak but I don't mind them at all, they are no way near Lasers level of bad. Mural is an 8 min long wordplay-fest and one of the most impressive performances i've heard period in Hip-hop. This album kind of proves that Lupe can achieve greatness when he has freedom of range and that trying to reduce him to a poppy-rapper was a huge mistake on Atlantic's part. I can't recommend this album enough. The same year, Lupe also dropped a surprise short mixtape called Pharaoh Height, which is pretty nice. In Early 2016, Lupe announced that 3 albums were coming out, Drogas Light, Wave and Skulls. Once again Atlantic stopped him from doing so. In February 2017, Lupe dropped Drogas Light as his last album under Atlantic, this album was made weak on purpose, hence the "Light" to announce that the Drogas project was still there but that he wanted to do it as a free-agent because he doesn't wanted to see Atlantic gain any money from this album after all that happened between them. Drogas Light is a pretty weak album because Lupe purposely chose to not blow too much material on it, but it's not terrible, songs like Dopamine Lit and Jump, while being basic lyrically, are pretty enjoyable hype tracks. V. Today, Drogas WAVES.Lupe has been pretty active these past two years, dropping a bunch of loosies on youtube to hype up for his project, like New mic freestyle over Nas Is Like, Black Power L Word, Kjazz. Recently, Lupe announced Drogas Wave coming out in September 28th, but got changed to September 21th due to a leak. This album will talk about slaves jumping out of their Slaveship and being resurrected to save other slaves from going to Africa, it's a 98 min long concept album without barely any features and Lupe has been working on it before Tetsuo & Youth came out. Songs like Haile Selassie and Jonylah were out for more than 5 years but got removed from Youtube to let people that haven't heard it enjoy it in the context of the album, new drums and mixing have been added to those songs too. And that's it for my guide, feel free to tell me if I forgot something, i'll add it in for sure, hope I put at least a few people on to my favorite rapper the day before his long awaited album. He's one of the greats to me and I feel like he really deserves that shine and attention for what he did to Hip-Hop after almost retiring because of Atlantic. Feel free to tell me what you thought !
