[DISCUSSION] Kid Cudi - Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin' (One Week Later)

When I listen to Cudi I don't expect any revolutionary lyrics. Most of the time he's very honest and blunt with his message. But he is able to create his own nuanced vibe in hip-hop that connects with a lot people. My top three tracks off PP&DS are By design, The Guide, and Dance 4 Eternity. I thought Andre was a perfect fit on By Design and made it the funnest track on the album. The Guide's beat was absolutely filthy and Cudi's connection with it was like none other. The moment he spit his first verse he came off very strong and aggressive. As far as Dance 4 Eternity goes I can really only describe it as a song that gives me comfort. Not exactly sure why it resonates with me so well yet but it's been a track I keep coming back to. Other songs that stood out to me were Frequency, Swim in the Light, Distant Fantasies, ILLusions, Mature Nature, and Advanced.

Also I felt that his hums were much more emphatic this time. You could tell he was really feeling himself during them. We even got a taste of some of his yodeling at the end of Surfin'. Keep doin you Scott.
