[DISCUSSION] Smino - blkswn (5 years later)

Posted: 14 Mar 2022 08:18 AM PDT

On march 14th, 2017, Smino released his debut album blkswn to critical acclaim. The album includes features from Noname, Jean Deuex, theMIND, Bari and more and production from frequent collaborator Monte Booker.

I personally find this to be one of the best debut albums of the past 5 years, and Smino to be one of the most unique and interesting rappers right now and arguably the best flow in the game.

My favorite songs off this record are the title track, the intro Wild Irish Roses and the outro Amphetamine.

What are your personal highlights off the album?

How do you think this record aged?

Where do you see Smino in the next 5 years?

Tracklist:

  1. Wild Irish Roses

  2. Maraca

  3. Glass Flows

  4. Flea Flicka

  5. Spitshine

  6. Netflix & Dusse

  7. Anita

  8. Lobby Kall

  9. Edgar Allan Poe'd up

  10. Father Son Holy Smoke

  11. B Role

  12. Blkoscars

  13. Blkswn

What rapper made the worst musical choices and ruined their career?

Posted: 14 Mar 2022 11:16 AM PDT

Not many know about this guy, but Jokerr. He is a decent producer and can rap, but he got mad at Hopsin and Tech N9ne early in his career, made diss songs against them and that ruined his career. He probably would've been well known in the underground scene, at the time. He's tried to restart his career, but his name has been tarnished.

In the album's first week, it sold 7,490 units, while also debuting at #1 on the "Billboard" New Artist chart.[5] After criticism of the album, Consequence offered a refund deal on his MySpace page, claiming that anyone who purchased the album and didn't like any of the songs could contact him and get their money back.
