Hype Thursday: Post songs by artists that haven't gotten more than 50 upvotes on HHH

Posted: 11 Jul 2019 12:14 PM PDT

If y'all remember we've done [HYPE WEEK] a bunch of times.

Previous weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. If someone wants to make a Spotify playlist of everything that's been posted so far I can add it to the OP and future OPs.

Rules

Artists qualify if they're never gotten 50 or more upvotes on /r/HipHopHeads (counting features)

Formatting:

Artist - Title

Description: no character minimum but some things that might be good to include: where the rapper is from, what subgenres they might fall into, have cosigns they might have, what their influences are/who they sound like.

Example:

Aaron May - Let Go

17 year old Houston Rapper, biggest influences are J Cole and Nas.

The highest upvoted songs might be collected for a playlist or something.

Heavily recommended: If you post a song, listen to another song and comment on it. Otherwise it doesn't rly work that well.

If you like faster, intelligent rap full of double+ entendres and quality production, i'd recommend Sharrod Sloans, namely his Mayflower projects. He was rumored to be featured on Kanye's unreleased Black Bruce Wayne when he went by his old rap name, Pizzle. He's very talented, among my favorite rappers, yet has under a thousand plays on many of his songs on Spotify. He's got multiple albums up, Grand Design, namely Sweet Jones, really showcases his storytelling ability. He also has some great stuff up on SoundCloud, and I wish he got the attention he deserves.

His feature on King Los' Yellow Tape was so good that Los didn't draw any attention to the song, as it's one of the few he gets outrapped on.

Don't, by Bryson Tiller, ripped the beat directly from the song Cheeks by Job Jetson ft. Sharrod Sloans.

I posted this on the Recommended Thread and it was suggested I share it here. Sloans' Reddit account hasn't been active in around a year but he can be found here u/SharrodSloans and on Twitter @SharrodSloans. He's real down to earth and receptive to both comments and criticism.

Watchout - Samad Savage

Don't think I've seen him ever posted on Reddit. This track's from his last album and is awesome imo.

His next album drops TOMORROW which I'm hyped af for. I think he deserves a lot more popularity for his music

Aron Can from Iceland. This kid deserves a world wide career.

Dre'es - Tulip Garden

Outta Long Beach, Dre'es makes his own wave. Following the laid back and more melodic approach on this track, his latest album explores a bunch of sub-genres of modern hip-hop.

GeiBoiz4Lyfe (GB4L)

These guys barely hit 100 plays on soundcloud and post like maybe 2 times a year, their songs all sound like throwaways or demos but anytime they come on my playlist i can't skip.

Nobody really knows anything about them since they dont have any videos or social media, i think they're from vancouver because they worked w lentra but that's about it.

I honestly think if they had proper mixing, they could make some bangers.

They also only have 5 songs so i'll just post em all w a little description

Probably their best song and the hook is wavy:

Travel Bans

This song goes hard at parties:

thisonescalledlmao v1 (prod. lentra)

Probs their most lofi song:

HOME MOVIES (SNIPPET)

One of my favs from them, such a weird song that's essentially an icejjfish meme:

MOTORBIKE

This is the song that made me check them out like 2 years ago, heard it at a party and thought it was hilarious... also mixed comically bad (pretty sure its all done on garageband or smthn)

Feel free to add any feedback on what could make these threads better.

Drake's engineer 40 (Noah Shebib) mixed and mastered a new artist (Audra Kelly) EP

Posted: 11 Jul 2019 09:06 PM PDT

Artist is a singer / rapper / producer. His raps sound like So Far Gone era Drake meets Graduation era Kanye and singing is very "Weeknd" ish.

Seems that Hitmaka (Yung Berg) is behind him as he tweeted "We Recorded @audrakellyinfo's "Audra Kelly 1" On The Coldest Night In Toronto Last December. Blessed Enough To Have @OVO40 Mix & Master The Entire Thing & Have Drizzy Sit In On A Few Sessions. Telling Y'all Right Now, DO NOT SLEEP ON @audrakellyinfo"

Has a promising sound but little to no following. Some of his Twitter followers include DJ Toomp (produced for Kanye), Logic's friend Big Leno, Ye Ali & more.

He has a EP out called Audra Kelly 1: https://open.spotify.com/album/3zDXdek9DAKEnzhMZvFh3v

Off first listen I'm going with Inherited Karma as my take away from it.
