Posted: 13 Sep 2019 03:41 PM PDT I personally am not a big fan of the original cover art and like the vinyl version a lot better, but that doesn't ship until December. So I thought I'd put this up for anyone else who likes it better as well. [link] [comments] |

[DISCUSSION] Biggie Smalls - Ready to Die (25 Years Later) Posted: 13 Sep 2019 04:19 AM PDT On September 13, 1994 Biggie released his classic debut album Ready to Die. This is a common contender for the best rap album of all time, and is a fantastic and extremely influential album. I remember very well the first time I heard Ready to Die. This was the first rap album I ever heard and it would have been either 6th or 7th grade. I had been listening to Biggie for a while but this, for me, was an amazing intro to rap. Showed me some of the peak levels of intricate rhymes, flows, BIG's excellent delivery and of course the production is great too. This was the first album I relistened to in high school and that experience solidified in my top 10 forever. I think Suicidal Thoughts was a super important song in general, as it was one of the early songs that discussed mental issues like anxiety, depression, etc in rap. Of course there are other classics like Mind's Playin Tricks On Me but this song genuinely had me in tears and I still tear up listening to it sometimes. My personal favorites are Gimme The Loot (one of the best rap songs ever imo), Suicidal Thoughts, Big Poppa, Juicy, The What, And Warning. Sorry for the long ass write up. What do you guys think of this album? Is it in your guys' top 10 or top 5? [link] [comments] |
